Headline1 May 15 debuts new rules for passengers

The first phase of the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) Secure Flight passenger vetting program begins this Friday, May 15, when passengers will be asked to enter their full name - as it appears on the government issued ID they will be traveling with - when making airline reservations. Small differences between the passenger's ID and the reservation information, such as the use of a middle initial, should not be an issue. Secure Flight does not require that the names on all  your IDs, such as a passport and driver's license, be identical. However, if you plan to use a driver's license as your ID,  and the driver's license says "John C. Doe," use "John C. Doe" to make your airline reservation.  Beginning August 15, passengers will be required to enter their date of birth, gender and redress number (if available) when booking airline flights.  The TSA's goal is to streamline the "watch list" matching process. Learn more here.

DCRA Poster - NY, BostonThese are just some of the new, low air fares from Dane County Regional Airport to popular destinations.   Air fares have been falling as the airlines seek to entice consumers back to air travel. You may see or hear some of our ads this month letting people know they can enjoy the close proximity and relaxing atmosphere of Dane County Regional Airport, and get good deals, too. Check the Airfaire Watchdog on our airport website for the latest deals.
Headline3Fly one-way using frequent flier miles

AAdvantageAmerican Airlines has become the first major airline to allow frequent fliers to book one-way award flights--for half the miles required to book a round-trip ticket. The change, called One-Way Flex Awards, lets AAdvantage members take a one-way trip for 12,500 points, half the 25,000 needed for a free round trip.  For instance, you could fly one-way from Madison to Dallas-Forth Worth for 12,500 points. Anytime awards are valid on American Airlines, American Eagle® and AmericanConnection® carriers. Learn more here. Will other airlines fall in step with AA? Stay tuned.
Headline4Delta, Northwest set timetable for merging frequent flier programs

Be sure to learn about how you can use your Northwest WorldPerks and Delta SkyMiles frequent flier points under the new, merged airline.  You can download the integration timetable here.
Headline5Airport prepared for H1N1 virus

Dane County Regional Airport was well prepared for the H1N1 virus outbreak, based on plans and supplies in place since the avian flu concern three years ago.  The airport immediately took precautionary measures to prevent the spread of illness. Hand sanitizing stations were made available in the terminal and in restroom facilities, and airport staff  increased disinfecting areas that have been proven effective in preventing the spread of the virus. We continue to work closely with Public Health-Madison Dane County.
Headline6TINY art exhibit features science

Artful images of the very, very small -- cells, molecules and nanoscale structures -- are on display in the airport's Art Court through September. The show, Tiny: Art From Microscopes at UW-Madison, organized by Tandem Press, features the beautiful images generated in the course of research by UW-Madison biologists, engineers and physical scientists. The show is free and open to the public.   Microscopy and other forms of scientific imaging have undergone a revolution in recent decades, and structures that were once hidden have come into full view with the aid of modern technology. Pictured here are Dr. Steve Paddock (left) and Dr. Sean Carroll, UW-Madison molecular biologists, in front of their works.
