Brown Bag Discussion with Hoover Presidential Library Director    

ABILENE, Kan. - Dr. Thomas Schwartz, director of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum in West Branch, Iowa, will be the guest speaker at the Eisenhower Presidential Library at noon on August 22 in the Visitors Center auditorium.

 

Dr. Schwartz will speak about the Hoover Library and its collections. Schwartz was named as director of the Hoover Presidential Library in July 2011. Prior to this appointment, Schwartz served as the Illinois State Historian and chief historian for exhibits and content at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. He is the author of Lincoln: An Illustrated Life and Legacy along with many articles, reviews, chapters and electronic reference entries.

The Hoover Presidential Library and Museum is located within the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site, a 187 acre park administered by the National Park Service. The Library contains the documents of an engineer turned humanitarian and President. The archives house over 300 collections made up of more than 8 million documents including the papers of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

 

The public is invited to bring their lunch and join the discussion. Cookies and beverages will be served.
