ABILENE, Kan. - Central Kansas Free Fair (CKFF) attendees will have several opportunities to experience this year's fair theme, "We Still Like Ike." The CKFF Parade kicks off the fair on August 2 at 4 p.m. The Eisenhower Living History Garden Kids will serve as the parade Grand Marshals on their float titled "Going to the Fair." Attendees should also be on the lookout for a special appearance by the "President and First Lady" accompanied by their "Secret Service."
The Eisenhower Garden Kids--who are Dickinson County 4-H members--will be participating in several ways at the fair. They will appear in costume around the fairgrounds and at their booth in Sterl Hall. The Garden Kids have planned a fair scavenger hunt, and fair goers are invited to join the fun and pick up scavenger hunt lists at their booth.
In addition, the Garden Kids will present a special program, "Coming Home from the Fair," at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 5, at the Band Shell during Talent Show intermission. After the fair, the kids will be at the Eisenhower Living History Garden on most Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays in the late mornings, until school starts. Visitors may also catch them in action on Saturdays during the rest of gardening season once school is in session.
