ABILENE, Kan. - "Late Night at the Museum with Elvis" will be held June 26 at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum just days before the "Elvis at 21" exhibit leaves the building. The event includes a showing of the film "Elvis '56: In the Beginning" at 7 p.m. in the Visitors Center Auditorium.
"Elvis '56" is an hour of rare footage and performances captured during the amazing year when Elvis Presley became not only a star but a phenomenon. Slip on your blue suede shoes and step back to the beginning of an era with rare early recordings and footage. The program shows several of his early television performances and includes many of his hit songs.
Admission is $5 per person and includes the film, wine and cheese reception and tours of the exhibit. Reservations are required by Friday, June 22 by calling 785.263.6700. The Smithsonian traveling exhibit "Elvis at 21, Photographs by Alfred Wertheimer" is on display through July 1.
