Featured Partner

Kansas Wesleyan University

Kansas Wesleyan University, a liberal arts institution located in Salina, has recently agreed to a 10-year partnership with the Eisenhower Presidential Library

and Museum. Kansas Wesleyan hopes to fosteKWU new logor advances in scholarship, research and public education regarding Dwight D. Eisenhower's legacy of military and presidential leadership and KWU's secondary education in history and museum studies and public relations.

Possibilities for this partnership might also include international student programs, non-traditional learning opportunities and internships. Charles Santy is a recent KWU graduate who completed a six-week internship with the Library and Museum in the spring of 2012.

Anita Specht, KWU Associate Professor of History and History Department Chair, is extremely encouraged and is looking forward to the long-term partnership. "This is a great opportunity for all of our students. It will give them access to the kinds of resources and ideas that will broaden their perspectives," Specht said.

Other educational opportunities have already arisen out of the partnership, including the Curve of Change series, which featured a "Future of Agriculture" panel discussion on the KWU campus.

KWU Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, Jeff Chapman, echoed Specht's sentiments:

"Having Eisenhower Library programming hosted on our campus is great for all concerned. Stay tuned for more collaboration between our organizations as our students and the Salina community will have more and easier access to research, history and interaction with a Presidential Library," he said.

Research Trends | April & May 2012

World War II was the topic of highest interest among on-site researchers. They reviewed documents relating to individual military units and campaigns, as well as the Free French, the Nazi Party, prisoners of war and the post-war Occupation of Germany.

Interest in U.S. foreign policy and international topics remained high. Researchers looked at documents relating to Egypt, the Foreign Operations Administration, Italy, Latin America, the Middle East, U.S. Nuclear Weapons Policy, the U.S. Foreign Service and Yugoslavia.
We hope this newsletter has given you a brief overview of the many summer events at the Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum and Boyhood Home. Find more information on our website and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
