ABILENE, Kan. - "Love Me Tender" is the next movie in a series of films complementing the Elvis at 21 exhibit. Love Me Tender stars Richard Egan, Debra Paget, and Elvis Presley in his film debut. It is in the Western genre with musical numbers. Because it was Presley's movie debut, it was the only time in his acting career that he did not receive top billing. Love Me Tender was originally to be titled The Reno Brothers, but when advanced sales of Presley's "Love Me Tender" single passed one million (a first for a single) the film title was changed to match.

The Elvis film series wraps up with Elvis '56: In the Beginning on June 26 at 7 p.m. The showing is part of "Late Night at the Museum with Elvis," which includes a reception and Museum tours and lasts until 9:30 p.m.

The Smithsonian traveling exhibit Elvis at 21, Photographs by Alfred Wertheimer is on display through July 1, 2012. This exhibit was developed collaboratively by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, Govinda Gallery, and the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery, and is made possible through the generous support of HISTORY™.
