Leavenworth Army Staff College to be Discussed
at Eisenhower Presidential Library

ABILENE, Kan. -  A special public program about the U.S. Army's graduate school for officers will be presented Tuesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. in the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum Visitors Center.

Dr. Wendell Christopher King, Brigadier General (R), U.S. Army, Dean of Academics, Command and General Staff College, will discuss the U.S. Command and General Staff College (CGSC), Ft. Leavenworth. Originally founded in 1881 as the School of Application for Infantry and Cavalry, the College has evolved to meet the educational and operational needs of the United States Army and continues to adapt to include lessons learned from current conflicts. Since World War II, it has generally been known as the school for Army majors, though the College educates officers from other military services and countries.

Dr. King received B.S., M.S. and PhD. degrees in engineering and has served the U.S. Army in a number of distinguished capacities for 40 years. King currently serves as the chief academic officer for the CGSC. This is the College from which Dwight D. Eisenhower graduated first in a class of 245 officers in 1926.

"We are pleased that Dr. King will be sharing information about this prestigious military officers' school which we are fortunate to have close by at Ft. Leavenworth," said Karl Weissenbach, Director, Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. "We look forward to continuing our valued relationship with the Staff College," he added.
