ABILENE, Kan. - The 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks will be observed with a rose garden dedication, non-denominational prayer and special music performance at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. The program scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, is free and open to the public.
Following the dedication of the September 11 Rose Garden, the Abilene City Band will perform patriotic music from the steps of the Library Building.
About the September 11 Rose Garden:
The garden was created in the center of the 22-acre campus of the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum where it is overlooked by the iconic statue of General Eisenhower. The Flight 93 National Campaign Steering Committee donated five hybrid tea rose bushes to the garden project. The "9/11 Flight 93 Roses" were specifically created to honor and remember the heroes of Flight 93 that fought back thwarting a second attack upon the nation's capital.
Visitors are encouraged to park in the south parking lot for the event.
