Director's Dialogue

Summer is an exciting time at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. On June 25, we opened a new exhibit commemorating the 50th anniversary of Eisenhower leaving office. It depicts the lasting accomplishments of Eisenhower's administration, including their impacts on today's society.
Also, the Library continues to experience an upsurge in the number of researchers, in response to the release of new materials. These include formerly classified documents and newly processed collections. Approximately 20 percent of the researchers are international visitors.

Eisenhower: Agent of Change Exhibit - Open through January 29, 2012 -
| | |
Eisenhower: Agent of Change is a retrospective look at Eisenhower's presidency.
The impressive exhibit takes up two gallery areas in the museum and examines some of Eisenhower's most enduring foreign and domestic policy legacies. These legacies continue to impact American lives today. Themes of the exhibit include: Unifying America, Global Diplomacy, Atoms for Peace and War, the Military-Industrial Complex and Establishment of NASA and Advanced Research Projects Agency.
We provide visitors a balanced look at how Eisenhower's policies have evolved over 50 years. The exhibit includes many successful aspects of those eight years in office, as well as positions taken by Eisenhower's administration that were disappointments.
Special thanks to the Hall Family Foundation of Kansas City, Mo., and Robert M. Beren Foundation Inc. of Wichita for their generous donations to the Eisenhower Foundation making this exhibit possible.
Don't miss this exciting look at a pivotal figure of the 20th Century! |
Boyhood Garden Comes to Life
| | Local 4-H members are very involved in this year's Living History Garden, located next to the Eisenhower Boyhood Home. The youth portray what it would have been like in the early 1900s when Ike was about 10 years old.
Dressed in period clothing, they characterize activities of the Eisenhower family and friends. The 4-H kids also help tend the garden which is planted with Heirloom varieties of the crops grown by the Eisenhower family. Throughout the summer they will interact with visitors on most Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Follow our garden updates on Twitter @EisenhowerNews.
