Safety Alert
Dear Neighbors,
We are experiencing an increase in property crimes in our community these past few weeks. The Police Department is aware of the problem and they are working on apprehending these crooks. Meanwhile, please do not leave your homes, garages or cars unlocked and do not leave your valuables outside on your premises or inside your cars because you are giving theives an open invitation to help themselves to your belongings. If you discover a burglary in process, do not apprehend them, however, get the best description of them and their vehicles, if any, as possible as you are dialing 911. Do not ever put yourself in harms way because you then become part of the problem rather than a solution.
If you do not have a Neighborhood Watch on your block, I strongly suggest that you start one at your earliest convenience. If you will email me at safety@stnc.org. I will gladly help you set one up and get it going. The Police Department has become involved in Disaster Preparedness and would like to have a Block Captain on every block within a year who is also CERT trained. We have a free CERT Class starting on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 7 pm at the Elks Lodge, 10110 Commerce Ave in Tujunga. It's a 7 week, 2 hours a week class taught by the LA Fire Department. For more information regarding CERT visit: www.CERT-la.com You can also call Tomi Lyn Bowling at 818-353-9143 who is taking reservations.
The First Aid/CPR Certification class scheduled for Aug. 27 has been cancelled. Anyone who signed up and paid will have their checks returned. We will let you know when a new schedule for this class is arranged. Please call me direct if you have any questions at 818-563-1962.
Please stay safe.
