"The way West Lothian Council delivers services has to change"

Who says?

West Lothian Council says.

In publishing their prospectus "Tough Choices Ahead" WLC has launched a community consultation process to hear suggestions as to how services to the community can be maintained when local government budgets are severely cut from the financial year beginning April 2011.

For the business community, which has not been known to   compliment Local Government for it's efficiency, quickness on its feet or pro-active response to its pressing needs, this is a golden opportunity, not to be missed, to make a positive contribution to the recovery.

Log on to www.westlothian.gov.uk/change to view "Tough Choices Ahead".

The LBA will convene a special meeting to hear views and opinions of Linlithgow's business community and you are strenuously encouraged to get involved, to "speak now or forever hold your peace".  There will never be another opportunity such as this for a generation, at least.

Such is the dire state of the economy, if the UK were a business it would be declared bankrupt and put out of it's misery. As always it will be the originality, inventiveness, determination and drive of the prosperity generating business community that will get the economy, and the country, out of the hole.

Big or small, businesses of every size, in every sector, have a role to play - Linlithgow businesses, now is your chance to make a difference, certainly to the local community, and perhaps beyond.

Don't hold back, let us have your views:

contact@linlithgowbusiness.org.uk

WLC requests feedback by 30 June so don't delay, check www.westlothian.gov.uk/change right now and tell us what you think!

The company does not wish to dwell on the fire which prompted their move to Lathallan but it occurred on 5th May 2009 in the factory in Broxburn. However 18 vans were still operating in the immediate aftermath. The Lathallan operation opened on 10th August 2009. Sales are now 90% of the level they were prior to the fire and the company is looking to the future. Although the company is based within Falkirk Council District their address is West Lothian and they offer a first class service to both Falkirk and Linlithgow, each being the first drop off point going East and West.

Many of the staff were with the company in Broxburn but the company is now looking locally for new staff and this represents a tremendous opportunity for employment from Linlithgow. Prior to the fire the company employed some 330 people and they are now about 40 shy of this figure. They take a great pride in the local area and feel more a part of the community than they did on the former industrial estate in Broxburn.
