...and maybe we can help you too!
The Academy runs a programme of Work Experience for S4 and S6 students.
In S4, all pupils go on work experience placement for a week, organized by the school. In S6, students are encouraged to organize their own vocational placements which can be on a more extended timescale. Linlithgow - World Class ... and why not? Linlithgow is a town with the location, tradition, resources and capability to thrive and prosper in the twenty first century.
However, prosperity for all means engaging everyone in the community - Linlithgow needs the ideas, experience and collective wisdom of: * the business community and the residential community * young people and the more experienced * public sector and investors
The LBA has worked tirelessly over the past 2 years to create the sound foundations upon which to build a fantastic future for its members, the town and its people. We've named the project 'Linlithgow Aspires' and it's ready to make real progress with your participation so please read on....

LBA MEMBER RECEIVES GLOWING REPORT |
|
Donaldson's school has received high commendation from Scotland's HM Inspector of Education in a report of her recent inspection today, 25 August 2009.
The excellent report confirms that the Inspector has disengaged from the School and follows hot on the heels of other recent awards and recognition for the grant assisted special school, which is Scotland's national school for children who are deaf or have severe speech and language difficulties. In her supporting letter, HM Inspector of Education has confirmed that the school demonstrates "high performance, a strong record of improvement and very effective leadership."

VisitWestLothian (VWL) has been set up to maximise the potential of West Lothian's visitor industry. As part of this, encouraging a culture of closer partnership working within the local industry and with stakeholders is paramount to VWL's success.
The company has been very busy of late, working on a host of projects. These include finalising VWL's new destination brand, which was signed off this week. In addition, working to deliver on their PR Strategy. This will involve recruiting a suitable PR company to deliver an 18-month promotional campaign for West Lothian.
VWL is also in the process of selecting a web company to help co-ordinate and design a new visitor website for West Lothian. Extensive usability testing will be a critical element in developing the web, to ensure it meets the needs of the consumer.
Furthermore, after the success of the Taste of the Tattoo event in Linlithgow, VWL and partners from Arts Services and Outdoor Education met with EventScotland. Discussions focussed on the potential opportunities for West Lothian to develop the locality's events industry. |
Well, the town seems to be buzzing despite the economic gloom elsewhere in the world. New shops have opened and seem to be thriving, work is underway to convert the old Post Office, planning permission has been granted for the redevelopment of the Vic Hall, and work on the Burgh Halls is moving along apace.
But there are always more questions to answer.
Are shops closing on the High Street?
What kind of businesses does Linlithgow really need?
Is Linlithgow just a dormitory town (No!)?
Can our wee town compete with Tesco and Sainsburys (Yes!)?
What should happen to the Springfield triangle site?
What about the Industrial Estate?
