I'll add your topics to this section so that we can all learn about them. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
This is extremely important information for those who find themselves bouncing back and forth between Word 2003 (W2003) and Word 2007 (W2007) documents. If all you want is for the W2007 document to look exactly the same as W2003 document, you are in business.
However, you can't directly convert W2003 Outline numbering styles to W2007, because the settings saved in a style (like paragraph formatting, line spacing, or font) are captured in a style feature and the actual outline numbering is captured in the multilevel list feature.
This means that if you want to convert a style-heavy W2003 you will have to do some reformatting and in some cases start from scratch. That is, of course, if you want to modify the styles or numbering later.
Just some things to keep in mind before you volunteer to edit a deeply layered W2007 document when all you have is W2003, or vice versa. If you're interested in learning how to do this on your own, here are some very helpful articles and links to point you in the right direction: Microsoft Word Forum - search for Word 2007 to get a feel for the kinds of issues people are running into. Read through to the last part of this helpful article by Suzanne S. Barnhill to find out how you can create styles and attach them to multilevel lists: http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/QandA2007.htm. ________________________________________________________________________
