| Greetings!
Welcome to "Calming the Chaos", 2nd Issue! This free monthly newsletter provides organization tips, keeps you updated on the latest Organized Chaos events, and/or offers spotlights on clients and/or client projects. (Make sure you watch for special offers at the end of each newsletter!) As always, we want this to benefit the organizational needs of our clients and friends--this is your newsletter. Enjoy! |
| This month's spotlight is on a home office reorganization, as well as the homeowner's company Socially Inked.
Do you have a social event on the horizon? Is that to-do list getting too long? Let Socially Inked custom design, print, address, and mail your invitations. Don't need invitations? Socially Inked also creates custom stationery and baby announcements.
Your event... Custom. Creative. Inked.
Future plans for this new company include a secure on-line database where you can upload and store the addresses of your family, friends, and associates. You will then be able to choose your design, choose who receives the invite, and Socially Inked will take care of the rest!
How did Organized Chaos help this client? In their own words, "We LOVE the office! I've spent 300% more time in there than I ever did! Everything is where I need it and I don't cringe when I know I need to work on something."

Getting Organized is Habit Forming!
You've reached your breaking point. Things are out of control. You contact Organized Chaos to help you rid the clutter and as a result find peace in your life once again. Now everything will just take care of itself right? Wrong!
It's a common misconception that organized systems operate on their own. It takes effort and a "reprogramming" of your mind to stay organized. Think of it this way. If you are on a vacation in another state, do you just magically reappear in your home? Of course not. It takes the concentrated effort of turning in the right direction and getting yourself home. This same thinking can be applied to your things. Once organized, everything has a place...a home. If an item is removed from it's location, an effort must be made on your part to return the item to its home.
Remember this--it generally takes two weeks to break a habit, and two weeks to make a habit. With two weeks of concentrated effort on your behalf to return items to their home and keep up with your organization, everything will "seem" to take care of itself. Here are some tips to help you create a habit of staying organized:
-
Write it down! A good way to remember to stay on task is to write it in your calendar. At the end of each day, schedule 10 to 15 minutes of "homecoming" time. Return items to their proper home.
-
Follow the 2-pass system. For home organization, keep a small laundry basket or bin in a handy place. Start in one room and work your way through each room of your home filling the bin with items that belong elsewhere on the first round. Then on the second round, empty the bin by returning those items to the proper room/place.
-
Children learn what they live. Involve your family in your organization efforts. Children taught how to keep things organized will grow to become more efficient adults. What a great legacy to leave them!
-
Forgive yourself. Life happens. Family illness, busy sports schedules, etc. can cause even the Professional Organizer to get behind in organization efforts. Don't beat yourself up! Allow a little more time each day to catch up. Not possible? Call Organized Chaos. We'll be happy to get you on track once again. For those who are in an extremely busy time in life, you may want to consider setting up an Organized Chaos Maintenance Plan. We can come weekly, monthly, or however often you need to help you keep your organization in check.
