F16 Fighters to Fly-Over Lakeway City Park July 4th 2009

(Editor's note: the information below was received from Volente VFD)

I have received formal confirmation from the USAF that, weather permitting, a flight of four F16 fighters will be coming over the south Lake Travis area beginning at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday July 4, and be at Lakeway City Park at 5:35 p.m. The flight will essentially track from east to west along the southern shoreline of the lake.

Flight-planning has the flight over Mansfield Dam at 5:32:27 seconds and City Park at 5:35:00 sharp.

Back-tracking and projecting the flight-path shows the flight going 'feet-wet' in the area of the Oasis at around 5:31 p.m. coming in from the Four-Points area north of RR620 and FM2222. They will very likely exit the area near the Lakeway Resort & Spa just after 5:35 p.m.

The flight will be at 1000 feet or below, depending upon clearance from the FAA. It might be nice to give notice to Lake Travis businesses that might be open at that time for Independence Day activities; maybe places like the Oasis, Volente Park, Johnny Fins, Carlos & Charlies etc. Just adding a touch to Flying-High; the Red, White, and Blue.

Of course the best show will be at Lakeway City Park.
