New Flip-Down Burn Ban Signs Installed For Volente |
Six new "flip-down" BURN BAN IN EFFECT signs have been installed in the Volente area to help inform residents and visitors of when a county-wide burn ban is in effect.
The signs can be seen on Bullick Hollow Road, FM 2769 and Lime Creek Road. The Volente Volunteer Fire Department is responsible for opening and closing the signs in conjunction with the burn bans. Residents and owners are responsible for complying with all bans - regardless of sign postings - and for complying with all rules and regulations regarding outdoor burning. This includes obtaining a permit from VVFD in advance of burning. See http://www.vvfd.net/burn.htm for information. Remember that even when a county-wide ban is not in effect, weather conditions may prohibit burning on any given day. |
and Speaking of Signs in Volente....... |
Several readers asked about the handwritten signs seen on southbound Bullick Hollow Road (see photo). As reported in the February 6th edition of Volente e-News, the Strickland family had met with Travis County officials to discuss the brush clearing taking place.
Agreement was reached with Travis County on the degree of clearing abutting their property. The signs were to make sure the actual work crews got the message. It seems to have worked! |
