Flu Shots Available at VVFD |
Each year VVFD purchases flu shots in order to protect our first responders and other emergency personnel. This year we have 18 shots left over to offer to the Volente community on a first-come first-served basis. There is no charge, but when they are gone, they are gone. We will have someone available at the Pancake Breakfast this Saturday to administer the shots, but if you cannot be there you can call the VVFD at 258-1114 to make arrangements. |

Just Wondering?? |
Take a drive up Lime Creek Road and you may notice our fire department's blue reflective address signs in some unusual places. No, there are not unseen homes hidden in the hairpin turns. The signs were placed to help emergency personnel (ours, as well as other departments) reach homes more quickly.
An important facet of our blue address sign program is that knowing where you are helps you get to where you are going faster. By letting responders know their approximate location as they travel Lime Creek Road, they can travel faster until they get to the approximate area of the call. Another benefit is that it gives a reference for reporting vehicle accidents in the "deserted" stretches where there are no nearby house numbers.
Thanks to Roger Shull for suggesting the project and to Trevor Koiro for his help in implementing it. |
