Flying Dutchmen Maintain Spot at Nationals

The Hope golf team is on track for their best finish ever at the NCAA Division III championships.
Heading into Friday's final round in Hershey, Pa., the Flying Dutchmen rank 11th among the 23 teams. Hope's previous best finish was 17th on four different occasions (1987, 1988, 2000 and 2006).
Senior captain Steven Strock is still in contention for a top ten finish among the 119 golfers. He is part of a three-way tie for 10th after shooting a 77 of Thursday, his highest of the tournament. He earlier had rounds of 74 and 70.
The team leader is Methodist, N.C. at 884 strokes. Hope is 26 strokes off the pace at 910.The individual leader continues to be Tain Lee of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Calif. at 69-69-72--210. Strock is 11 strokes out of first.
The scores of other Hope golfers on Thursday were Charles Olson 34-39--73, Nick Campbell 36-39--75, Chris Ansel 36-38--74, and Andy Thomson 38-38--76. The place in the player standings of other Hope golfers are Chris Ansel, 33rd (77-75-74--226); Charles Olson, 42nd 83-72-73--228) and Andy Thomson , 102nd (82-82-76--240).
