A Reminder:
Women's Legacy Series
Featuring:
Alba Thompson
June 2, 2012 at 1:30
The Women's Legacy Series is three separate, intimate and personal discussions with women who reside at Stafford Hill and have remarkable life stories to tell. Very remarkable. Their lives continue to impact the Plymouth and South Shore communities, if not for the contributions they continue to make, but for the inspiration they offer women for generations to come.
Alba Thompson, 93, is a
longtime Plymouth resident and expert in foreign affairs who forged a path for women as the only female on General Douglas MacArthur's staff in South Korea, became the first female selectman in the town of Plymouth and champions issues surrounding disabled Veterans. While raising her children, Alba worked to represent the National Federation of Business and Professional Women through the United Nations. In Plymouth, she was instrumental in saving the State Park in Manomet from real estate development, and for over a decade now, has worked tirelessly for the opening of a health clinic for disabled Veterans. |
