Simple Joy
Thanks very much for the feedback about last week's bird story.  It's wonderful to know that there are so many nature lovers in our community.  Many of you wrote to say that you can, in fact, touch a bird or a nest that may be in distress, without alienating the mother.  This advice came in handy last week when a baby finch flew into a window on the side of our home and wound up lying, beak down, on the deck, with its feathers splayed on either side of its little body. Because of your emails I knew what to do.

I went into the house to get a soft cloth so I could gently gather up the bird and stand it on its feet. Once upright, it didn't move, so I knelt beside it and spent several minutes sending it healing energy.  Soon the bird came to, got its bearings, and suddenly realized that it was standing next to a human being.  It was up and off in no time :).

It's been such a joy to feel more connected to nature in our new home.  Between planting trees, growing vegetables and flowers on our deck, or watching the birds and animals in our yard, I'm reminded every single day of the simple, low to no cost things that bring such happiness to life.

At a time when many of us are reevaluating our priorities, it can be quite comforting to reconnect with the pleasure of spending time in nature. Whether you take a walk in a forest or on the beach, plant a small garden, or sit under a tree, you're sure to feel a sense of oneness that lets you know you're a part of something far greater than yourself.

So, this week, why not enjoy one of the most valuable gifts the world has to offer?  Follow the "Take Action Challenge" and let the beauty of nature heal you, feed you, and make you strong.
Take Action Challenge

Bring nature into your life.  Grow some basil, put a tomato plant on your balcony, or buy a pot of daises for your kitchen window.  If you love birds, get yourself a small bird feeder for the bedroom window, or put a bird bath out on your deck. You might even set yourself up for a real treat by purchasing a flowering bush that attracts butterflies or hummingbirds.  Do something this week to reconnect with the simple joys of life.
