Diane Kaysen, Mayor Rick Kaysen, and Bill Willingham flip the switch to turn on the Cheyenne Christmas Tree
This year, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce took over the organization of the Cheyenne Christmas Parade and with the help of the previous year's committee members, we were able to pull it off without a hitch. The evening began at 5 pm when the parade got rolling at 17th Street and Carey Avenue and was led by our presenting sponsor, WyHy Federal Credit Union. From there, onlookers watched as more than 110 entries were driven, pulled, walked, and danced through the streets of downtown Cheyenne. The final float, which housed Santa and Mrs. Clause and was accompanied by a large group of WyHy employees, passed through 17th and Carey a little over an hour after the beginning of the parade and was pulled to the Depot Plaza. There, Mayor Rick Kaysen, Diane Kaysen, and President of WyHy, Bill Willingham, flipped the switch to light the giant outdoor Christmas tree at the Depot. After pausing to watch a fun flash mob by the students and teachers at En Avant Dance Studio, the crowd moved inside the Depot building to enjoy the party! A private party for the sponsors of the parade was held in the Depot Museum. In the Depot lobby, there was a party which was open to the public that had food, beverages, and Christmas vendors as well as an area where children could stop to see Santa and Mrs. Clause and have their pictures taken.
Overall, the evening was a huge success but there is no way that we could have pulled it off without all of the sponsors, volunteers, and donations that were received. The Chamber appreciates everyone's generosity and we are looking forward to many more years of Cheyenne Christmas Parade fun!
