Don't miss our monthly Chamber Luncheon for September. This month it will be sponsored by United Way of Laramie County and is featuring Kirk D. Keller, Lead Health Strategist for Two Medicine Health. Kirk has over 26 years of experience serving employers in employee health management. His work includes serving clients in mining, health insurance, finance, engineering, education, & healthcare. Two Medicine Health is a professional preventative health company serving clients throughout the northern Rockies.

To maintain a competitive advantage, employee health and productivity are dependent upon each other. Attend this luncheon to learn:

- What others are doing to remain profitable while attracting and retaining staff

- What works

-What doesn't

- What is legal

Industry trends and best practices will be presented. Appropriate proactive employee health management strategies are a critical success factor in reaching your business objectives!

Oilfield Being Felt in Local Economy

Rig counts in the Niobrara have remained pretty steady with 1 - 4 rigs running in Laramie County throughout the summer. Currently, there are 25 rigs running in Weld County with increased activity being seen in Goshen County and Platte County. In Laramie County, the combination of interstate highways, a location in the center of the Niobrara oilfield, and insightful investors have all culminated to benefit both Cheyenne and the county as a whole. On the west side of Laramie County, activity in Swan Ranch has already slated a predicted 1000 jobs if all of the announced companies advance as planned. The east side is also enjoying benefits from the energy boom with the empty snack food plant at Pine Bluffs now busy with truck traffic. The energy industry continues to boost our local economy and your chamber is committed to working with this industry as it grows to help them achieve success in ways that benefit our entire community.

Economy Shows Promising Signs in Cheyenne

Second quarter job growth in Cheyenne grew at 2.2% according to the WCBEA. Meager first quarter job growth gave way to a much more robust economic recovery in the second quarter. Retail sales were also promising this quarter with a 7.5% increase from second quarter 2010 and 19% increase from second quarter 2009. Unemployment figures are also showing very positive trends at this time. UE has dropped from 8.2% in January to 6.1% in July. Keep it going Cheyenne! Shop and do business in our community and keep these numbers improving.

Business to Business Expo Bright Ideas

We are seeking the best of the best to do 15 minute business related presentations at the Business to Business Expo on November 8th 2011

The Chamber of Commerce is creating a web based business resource center that has 15 minute mini seminars. The seminars will then be available online and on kiosks around the community.

We are looking for professionals in: Business Law, Accounting, Insurance, Marketing, Permitting and licensing and many others. If you are selected to teach one of these mini-seminars your business will receive exposure in several publications, at chamber events, and in online materials.

Give back to your community by helping other businesses succeed. Participate in this worthwhile project by contacting Dale Steenbergen at 638-3388 or dales@cheyennechamber.org. Make sure to have in mind what topic you would be most qualified to present about.
