The Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Pat Ashworth of Express Employment Professionals, our Red Carpet Committee Chairman, for the Red Carpet Committee having been awarded the committee of the year award at our Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet last Saturday. Each year, we choose one committee that has demonstrated excellence in its mission. This year, the Red Carpet Committee was recognized for its commitment to the membership of our chamber. From ribbon cuttings, to volunteering at the luncheons, to working as ambassadors for the Chamber, the Red Carpet Committee's dedication to our Chamber is commendable. Congratulations and thanks for everything you do!

2011 Chamber of Commerce Persons of the Year
Stephan Pappas, Person of the Year 2010, & Kevin Paintner, Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board 2011 with Bill & Marie Crader, Persons of the Year 2011

Every year, the Chamber is faced with the difficult decision of selecting the Person of the Year. Cheyenne's volunteer spirit is demonstrated in so many ways throughout the community. For that reason, it is challenging to select one person out of a population of citizens who contribute their time and talents to further the progress of Cheyenne. This year's winner is no different. They are a husband & wife that have touched the hearts of so many people here in Cheyenne with their work on the Cheyenne Christmas Parade. Congratulations Bill & Marie Crader on their receipt of the 2011 Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Persons of the Year Award! |

2011-2012 Leadership Cheyenne Class Completes Their First Class!
The 2011-2012 Leadership Cheyenne Class completed the Ropes course last Saturday. Ropes courses enable participants to grow at both the team and individual levels, exploring risk, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and coaching. They challenge every member of the team to participate and emphasize risk-taking, trust, and coaching. These challenges allow participants to expand their comfort zones - sometimes dramatically - and recognize fears that may block personal achievement. This makes the ropes course a great team building course as well as the perfect way to start the Leadership Cheyenne class year!

| USS Cheyenne Update | | |

Cheyenne's namesake submarine is rapidly approaching another milestone in her history. September 13th will mark her fifteenth anniversary as a commissioned ship in the United States Navy. As many of you may recall, to help celebrate the 10th Anniversary in 2006, many residents of Cheyenne traveled to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii to host a BBQ celebration for the crew. Commemorative coins were presented to each crewmember. This year we would like to get a contingent together to travel to Hawaii and host a party and cook for the current crew. In the past, the USS CHEYENNE committee has presented a belt buckle to the Sailor of the Year and the Junior Sailor of the Year when they visited our city during Cheyenne Frontier Days. This year, the submarine was deployed over the summer and no crew members were able to visit. In fact the Submarine left on deployment on April 1st and is not expected to return until some time this fall. It is our intention to present belt buckles at this event. The tentative date for the BBQ is Friday, November 11th.
We are looking for sponsors for the BBQ. If you would be interested in sponsoring and/or attending, please contact our USS CHEYENNE Committee co-chairs:
