Greetings!

The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with our Chamber committees, tirelessly works to support Cheyenne's business community in order to create a stronger local economy. Read below to find out some of the exciting things that are going on in Cheyenne this week!

A Special Thanks to the Speakers and Sponsors For the Reception to Welcome General Duncan J McNabb

General Duncan J McNabb, First Lady of Wyoming Carol Mead, Linda McNabb, & Governor Matt Mead

The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce would like to offer a special thanks to everyone who made it possible for us, in partnership with the US Air Force Association, to hold a reception at the Governor's Residence honoring visiting General Duncan J. McNabb, Commander, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, IL. This includes our speakers, Governor Matt Mead and First Lady of Wyoming Carol Mead, Brigadier General Harold Reed, Major General Luke Reiner, and Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Commitee Chairman Scott Meier, as well as our sponsors, Northrop Grumman, Cheyenne Regional Airport, Cheyenne Beverage, DT's Liquor Mart, Orrison Distributing, and Town & Country Supermarket Liquors.

These receptions make it possible for our elected officials to come together with our military leaders to further the prosperity of the military community in Cheyenne in order to nurture the long term growth of military missions and expand support for our service members and their families. The military in Cheyenne is an integral part of what makes our business community successful. The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, along with our Wyoming Wranglers Committee and our Military Affairs Committee (MAC), works day in and day out to support our troops in every way that we can.

F.E. The Thunderbirds Squadron is an Air Combat Command unit comprised of eight pilots (six are demonstration pilots), four support officers, four civilians, 115 active-duty enlisted people, and two National Guardsmen performing in more than 27 different career fields. A Thunderbirds air demonstration is a mix of six aircraft, performing formation flying and solo routines. This year was the 58th year that the Thunderbirds have performed at Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Debt Limit Agreement Includes New and Old Ideas

The Deal negotiated among congressional leaders and President Obama closely resembles significant parts of earlier debt limit and deficit reduction proposals, including those proposed in recent weeks by House Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. Some aspects were not part of the earlier agreements, however, particularly an enforcement mechanism intended to push lawmakers to enact additional cuts by the end of the year. The plan requires both the House and the Senate to vote on a proposed balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution by the end of the year. If two-thirds of both chambers voted to adopt this amendment - and send it to the states for ratification - the second debt limit increase would be $1.5 trillion.
