Cheyenne will share an equal ranking with the 9 other cities that made the list including Columbus, IN; Gainsville, GA; Harrisburg, PA; Ithaca, NY; Portland, ME; Midland, TX; Tulsa, OK; Wenatchee, WA; and Winchester, VA.

US Navy Matches Belt Buckle Auction Price for the CFD Crisis Fund

Commander James Washington, Commanding Officer, Navy Operational Support Center, Cheyenne, with the official 115th annual CFD Belt Buckle

Each year, at Pardners in Prosperity, we hold an auction and sell various Cheyenne Frontier Days items to benefit the CFD Crisis Fund. This year, among other items, a 115th annual official CFD belt buckle was auctioned off by Commander James Washington, Commanding Officer, Navy Operational Support Center Cheyenne. The buckle sold for $500 and the US Navy matched it dollar for dollar to help us raise over $2000 for the fund this year. The CFD Crisis Fund is a small group of Frontier Days volunteers who raise money to help other volunteers when they are in need. Since 2007, the fund has helped 24 CFD families by providing them with emergency monetary assistance when they are faced with a tragic or catastrophic loss.

July 2011 Pride of Cheyenne Award Winner

Mary Mues with Wyoming Home - Pride of Cheyenne Award Winner July 2011

This month's Pride of Cheyenne award winner was announced at Friday's luncheon. The July award went to Mary Mues from Wyoming Home. Mary was nominated by an out of state visitor in May 2011 who stated that she was "gracious and patient with out of state visitors. Very friendly, kind, and helpful...without being pushy. A great ambassador for your city!" Employees of Cheyenne businesses are eligible for the Pride of Cheyenne award which is given out every month. This Pride of Cheyenne award winner is not only recognized at the Chamber monthly luncheon and in our E-News, but will also be recognized in the Chamber Newsletter and the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle. Mary was given a plaque from Wyoming Trophy & Engraving as well as Cheyenne Frontier Days tickets. Pride of Cheyenne nomination forms are available at many businesses, and at the Chamber of Commerce.
