The GOAL of transitional duty is to return injured employees to work as soon as they are medically able. Transitional duty enables injured workers to remain active in the workplace while recovering from their workplace injuries.

Transitional duty is important to workers compensation management to avoid the resulting negative consequences occurring when employees are out of work for long periods of time.

Employers benefit by maintaining the services and skills of trained employees; improving employee retention; minimizing claim costs; and keeping employees involved in workplace activities.

According to the 2010 RIMS Benchmark Survey, only 60% of employers have Transitional Duty Programs. This leaves an opportunity for 40% of employers to save money by implementing these programs.

Our book, Manage Your Workers Compensation Program: Reduce Costs 20-50%, is a teaching tool on how to set up a successful, fully functioning workers compensation program. Everything you need to know is in our book.
