SUCCESS STORY

Successful Physical/Occupational Therapy

At LowerWC.com one of our favorite sayings is: "You don't know what you don't know." It's difficult to achieve success in reducing workers compensation costs if you don't know where you need to improve. Many employers find physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) a bit confusing. Therapy is therapy - right? No - there is a difference between the two.

PT: Treats the source of the injury and educates the employee to prevent re-injury.

OT: Does not treat the injury but aids the injured worker in regaining functional ability.

PT and OT are complementary and work toward returning your injured employee to both modified and full duty in a safe and medically sound way.

For a complete discussion of physical and occupational therapy see Chapter 11 in Manage Your Workers Compensation Program: Reduce Costs 20-50%.
