ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: DONALD DAVIS |

Donald Davis is a featured storyteller at this year's festival and if you attended our 2008 festival, maybe you'll remember him! That's right folks--Donald Daivs is a former teller at the Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival and he is returning for a second tour.
Davis was born in a Southern Appalachian mountain world, surrounded by a family of traditional tellers who told him Jack tales, scary mountain lore, ancient folktales and, most importantly, nourishing true-to-life stories of his own neighbors and kin. Featured at festivals throughout the world, Davis is also known as a prolific author, producer of books and tapes, and as a guest host for NPR's Good Evening. Davis, a Storytelling Circle of Excellence Award recipient, has presented his stories across the globe.
"...his stories often left listeners limp with laughter at the same time they struggled with a lump in the throat."
- New York Times
"Beneath the huge canopy, Davis had 1,500 people hanging on his every word. A master of timing, he measured some sentences drop by drop, poured others out like water from a pitcher." - Smithsonian Magazine

Diary of Intern Brittany Meek
Preparing for entering the real word can be quite intimidating. It is difficult to imagine life without 2 jobs, 6-day work weeks and late-night study sessions, but as graduation quickly approaches, thoughts of the real world are quickly becoming reality for Brittany Meek, Public Relations and Marketing Intern at the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau.
