$87,479 Granted in DREAMs this year
Despite the challenges within our economy and the effects of the state budget crisis, Twin Rivers teachers, classified staff and administrators continue to DREAM with their students. DREAM funded 89 different projects in the arts, field trips, outdoor education and athletics this year benefitting 5,544 students throughout our district. This brings the total given back to our schools over the last two years to $161,473!
Thanks to all of you who contribute to DREAM each month through payroll deductions, attend our annual fundraiser and make one-time donations. Without your help, this wouldn't be possible. |
Festival of DREAMS
Thank you so much to the volunteers, planning committee, and attendees at our recent annual fundraiser. Even in this economy, we raised more funds than ever before - more than $47,000!

Can You Help a College Bound Student?
Did you know? - The majority of TRUSD students accepted to college will be the first ones in their families to graduate with a degree
- 79% of our students qualify for free meals at school
- 1,856 of our students have been identified as homeless this year
- There are over 200 foster youth in our schools
It's graduation season and time for our seniors to take their next steps towards college and career. For many of our students, their road to college has been complicated by family challenges, poor choices, and poverty.
This spring, 32 Twin Rivers graduates were nominated for the first annual College Bound Scholarship. This scholarship is for students that have overcome major challenges and have been accepted to 4-yr universities including UC Davis, University of the Pacific, Arizona State and San Diego State University.
Through the support of our generous donors, Project DREAM is partnering with Target to provide these students with a $300 shopping trip to purchase the supplies they will need for their dorm and for school. In addition, they will be paired with a college mentor that can help answer questions about what to expect.
Currently, we are seeking $2,000 more in tax deductible donations to be able to provide scholarships for the last 7 students on our list. If you would like to help, please call 566-1788 for information on how to make a donation, or go to www.dreamtwinrinvers.com. |
