Developing Resiliency through Education, the Arts and Mentoring

Winter/Spring 2010

Greetings!

Thank you for taking a moment to read this update about Project DREAM's activities within Twin Rivers Unified School District.  Despite the challenges we're facing with the local and national economy, our donors are continuing to invest in the future of the 27,000 students in our district and have funded over $135,000 in amazing enrichment programs since the fall of 2008.

As a small, non-profit, DREAM has committed 95% of all proceeds to fund teacher mini-grants for enrichment programs that cannot be funded using state or federal dollars.  You can learn more about DREAM at www.dreamtwinrivers.org.

With our 6th Annual Festival of DREAMs fundraiser just over a month away, we are asking supporters to attend our event, donate items for our silent auction and provide sponsorships.  If everyone gives a little, we can continue to provide amazing field trips, programs in the arts and athletics for our students.

Holiday Giving Report:  Over 300 Students and Families Received Backpacks, Gifts and Food

Thanks to our local businesses, the district office staff and individual donors, over $22,000 worth of backpacks, school supplies, toys and food made the holidays a little brighter for over 300 students.

You make a difference!

We'll Give You the Shirt Off Our Backs!

The DREAM board would like to thank employees from our classified, certificated and management team for donating to DREAM each month though payroll deductions.

Donors who give $25 per month are sporting a Project DREAM t-shirt created by the students from Rio Linda High School.  Donors at the $50 per month level get two free tickets to our annual fundraiser.

These donations have made it possible for us to continue to fund teacher mini-grants in our schools during these difficult economic times.

More information about payroll deduction is available on our website or by calling Dawn Jones at (916) 566-1788.
