What's happening at the AYS ALL-FAMILY KICK OFF NIGHT?
  • ENCORPS! Support Program Sign-Up - get the best slots and get your 20 points scheduled!

  • Introduction to the new AYS STRATEGIC PLAN - come see what is in store for AYS
  • AYS NEWS (new!) - events, performances, Charms, workbook, invitations, oh my!
  • TR/IMM CHOIRS Meeting/Breakout Session - specific information for TR/IMM Singer Families 
Adults Only Please 
Callanwolde has limited space, and we are 200 Singers strong.  We would prefer at least one adult from each Singer family to attend.

 

What do I do if I cannot attend the meeting? 
  • If you can, send a proxy to sign you up for ENCORPS! activities.
  • If you absolutely cannot attend the meeting, you MUST stop by the AYS Office to pick up important handouts, sign up, and find out what you missed.

AYS Housekeeping DO

UNIFORM ORDER FORMS will be sent home soon during rehearsal.  Be sure to ask your Singer for the form. Order forms are due back to the AYS Office on SEP 19

 

RETURNING SINGERS  MUST bring your formal tops/skirts to rehearsals if they have not been checked. Please TRY ON YOUR PANTS and  informal tops and  let us know if you need a new pair.

 

The  USED UNIFORM SALE will be THUR, SEPT 15, 3:00-7:00pm
  •  If you have gently used uniform pieces that you would like to place in the Used Uniform Sale, please bring them by the office, cleaned and marked with your Singer's name, by WED, SEP 14.
  •  Keep in mind that we do not take orders via telephone or email.  Used items are not returnable, so be sure to bring your Singer to ensure fit of items.
 All 2011-2012 REGISTRATION paperwork is now due.  We have not received registration paperwork from the following
Singer Families:

Alemu, Alexander, Carey, Cater, Cohen, M. Gartman, Gray, Hicks, Hogsed, Munson, Nichols, Oseitutu, Perkins

 
 
Please submit you registration packet, along with the $50 registration fee, as soon as possible.

 

SEPTEMBER TUITION payments were due on SEPT 6. 

 

  • If you have not sent in your payment, please do so promptly. 
  • We are extending the due date this one time: a late fee of $15 will be assessed for currently due payments that are not received in the AYS Office by SEP 12.
  • If you are paying monthly, payments are due in the AYS Office on or postmarked by the first of every month through MAY. 

Choir News SING

ALL CHOIRS

The first rehearsals are complete, and already the AYS Choirs are making stellar progress! All that preparation and teamwork started at Summer Music Camp and Mini Camp is really paying off.

 

About three weeks ago, Singers who attended Camp Woodmont sang a program at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. To sing a performance so early in the season is quite a feat. You have set the bar high for the whole Choir - congratulations!

 

The whole AYS staff is very proud of every one of our Singers and looking forward to a great year!


  

YC                              
Youth Chorale

 

Thanks for the great YC Singer Family turnout at the required meeting on TUES! Congrats to all who attended - you've already earned one ENCORPS! point. Let us know how your adventure in Charms goes. ;) Those who were unable to attend must stop by the AYS office for information by SEPT 20.

 
  • ALL YC members are expected to attend the YC Retreat on SEP 16-18.  Please contact the AYS Office if you have an unavoidable conflict to report. Registration, Payment, and Behavior Forms - found in recent YC emails and on the AYS website under For Members, Forms - were due on  TUES, SEPT 6. If you have not contacted the AYS Office about your attendance, please do so immediately. 

Performance Teams

  • YC at the Braves SEP 27, in lieu of rehearsal. All in the stands, informally uniformed. YC Men on the field for the National Anthem. All AYS Singers and Families going wild :) Possible informal performance in the park. Tickets and parking passes may be reserved in the AYS office - let's all sit together!   
  • DEC 4 and 11 - SAVE the DATE - YC 9th-graders sing with other selected AYS Singers and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. 1:30 and 3:30 performances   
TCC                       
 Treble Concert Choir

 

 

Required TCC Singer Family meeting on MON, SEPT 12 6:30-7:15 at Callanwolde in the CY (where TCC rehearses). At least one adult per family should attend. Please RSVP, especially if you cannot attend.

 

 

Performance Teams 
  • OCT 23 - SAVE the DATE - Performance Team appearance with Atlanta Choral Guild. 2PM call, 5PM performance 
  • DEC 4 and 11 - SAVE the DATE - the entire TCC sings with other selected AYS Singers and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. 1:30 and 3:30 performances
TR/IMM                  
Training/Introduction to Music Making Choir

  • We are currently creating Buddy Families for our new AYS Singer Families. If you are a veteran Singer Family interested in assisting a new Family during their first year in AYS, please contact Carol at carollgrier@aol.com.  
  • If you are in need of help finding or creating a CARPOOL for rehearsals or performances, please contact Carol carollgrier@aol.com. Marney Mayo, one of our wonderful AYS Parents has volunteered to help coordinate these efforts!  
Program Support (PROG)
CAPTAIN: NEEDED!

  

Assistance Needed
  • We need a willing and able Captain for this Area of Support!  
  • Morning of SEP 15. Organize and tag uniform pieces for the UUS.
  • SEP 15. Assist during UUS for a 2-hour shift.
  • Uniform Coordinator to assist AYS with uniform maintenance and organization throughout the Season. BIG points will be awarded!
  • Workbook Session Coach. If interested, please contact Bill Nittler at bill_ginnyshow@bellsouth.net. First session is SEPT 24.
  • Rehearsal Assistants. Thank you to those Singer Families who have volunteered to be rehearsal assistants for this season.
  • Many thanks to PERF Captain Michelle Swanson for pitching in to help organize volunteers while we search for a Capt!

Staff NewsTEACH

Training Choir Instructor Meaghan Curry recently accepted the Music Teacher position at Henderson Mill Elementary - congratulations!

  

Recruitment & Communications Manager Casey Hobbs went back to work full-time for DeKalb County as a Title I Reading/Math teacher and is currently working for AYS part-time in the afternoon. 

 

Don't miss Education Director Bill Nittler and 4th Ward Afro-Klezmer Orchestra, performing at the Reynoldstown Wheelbarrow Festival at 3PM on SAT, SEP 10. More info at www.wheelbarrowfestival.com.  If you have to miss this one, check out his playing with the Jeff Crompton Quartet at Kavarna Coffee Shop in Oakhurst on OCT 1!
