We are often asked how we choose our ingredients and why.  Many ask us why we don't use Palm Oil in our treats.  It's true that Palm Oil would make our treats much easier to make. While palm oil is indeed a natural ingredient, we don't use palm oil because it is a product that is single handedly contributing to massive global deforestation.  Palm Oil is used in 50% of all consumer goods, and the demand has tripled in the United States alone over the last five years.  It is the world's cheapest oil and 85% of it is grown on massive industrial plantations in the tropical countries of Indonesia, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea. It has been directly linked to rainforest destruction, extinction of animal species and increases in greenhouse gas emissions. There is also a direct link between these industrial plantations and gross human rights and labor violations not to mention the severe negative impact it has on native cultures. The end does not justify the means in our minds.
