Doing the Right Thing.

We are often asked how we choose our ingredients and why.  Many ask us why we don't use Palm Oil in our treats.  It's true that Palm Oil would make our treats much easier to make. While paRaw Meatlm oil is indeed a natural ingredient, we don't use palm oil because it is a product that is single handedly contributing to massive global deforestation.  Palm Oil is used in 50% of all consumer goods, and the demand has tripled in the United States alone over the last five years.  It is the world's cheapest oil and 85% of it is grown on massive industrial plantations in the tropical countries of Indonesia, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea. It has been directly linked to rainforest destruction, extinction of animal species and increases in greenhouse gas emissions. There is also a direct link between these industrial plantations and gross human rights and labor violations not to mention the severe negative impact it has on native cultures. The end does not justify the means in our minds.

Sojos Q & A                            Raw Meat

Q:
What's the difference between freeze-dried and dehydrated meat?

A:
"Dehydrated" meat is cooked at 230 degrees and up.  Cooking destroys the natural enzymes and nutrients found in raw meat.  On the other hand, FREEZE-DRYING removes the moisture without exposing the meat to high temperatures.

Sojos Meat is FREEZE-DRIED RAW. There is NO COOKING involved in our process.  At Sojos we stand behind our products 100% and we want your pet to get the nutrients that nature intended, which can only be found in raw meat.

Q:
Many of you called or wrote in about too much powder in our Grain Free Fruit & Veggie Mix.  What have we done about it?

A: Do not fear, your questions and concerns have not fallen on deaf ears.  We appreciate all of your feedback!  The reason for the powder is that we changed to a better, more absorbable form of calcium and added Vitamin D to the formula.  We did this because we're always trying to improve upon ourselves.  To remedy the problem, we started using higher moisture content apples and broccoli florets, and this has dramatically reduced the powder that releases into the air when the bag is opened.  This is because the lightweight powder of the calcium and vitamin D adheres more easily to these two ingredients and prevents it from becoming airborne once it's been mixed up.

Sojos Q & A

"You have made it so much easier for me to feed my goldens.  I started six weeks ago when my older golden Casey was diagnosed with anaplastic carcinoma and he has since finished treatments.  During this time I found Sojos after extensive searching on what to feed canines with cancer.  You have made it so easy for me to prepare his food. Instead of spending a day in the kitchen I now spend a few minutes and can have more quality time with my boy.  He goes completely bonkers for the food, and I am now slowly switching my younger golden to Sojos as well.  I also find it very handy to bring it to trials.  Thank you so much for the great combination of quality food.
