Greetings!

Coaching is one of the fastest-growing fields within the area of leadership training and development. More and more companies are hiring executive coaches for many different reasons to support managers at all levels of management:

  • as a retention strategy for seasoned managers;
  • as a perk to struggling middle managers - a reward of their hard work and to help provide strategic direction; and
  • to help rooky managers build skills and develop discipline (often as a supplement to a leadership training program).

Also, the benefits for organizations are huge! A MetrixGlobal LLC study (for a Fortune 500 firm and Pyramid Resource Group) found that "Coaching produced a 529% return on investment and significant intangible benefits to business. When the financial benefits from employee retention were factored in, the ROI increased to 788%!"

All managers benefit from the individualized format of one-on-one coaching as opposed to the one-size-fits-all of other development solutions. An Olivero, Bane & Kopermann study (1997) of a public sector municipal agency found that coupling one-on-one coaching with leadership training resulted in a near quadrupling of productivity results (from 22.4% to 88% when combined).

Our coaching programs, like most, include your choice of self-assessment or 360 degree feedback survey to help uncover needs and strengths. An initial intake session helps to confirm if your coach is the right person for you ('chemistry 101'); ongoing sessions are one hour, every two weeks, for programs of 3, 6 or 12 months duration.

We offer a complimentary phone consultation to help you establish if coaching is right for you or is appropriate for consideration for individuals in your organization.

If you would like further information about our coaching programs, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Please enjoy this issue of talent talk.

Cheers,

Rebecca

Visible Personal Accountability Is Critical To Business Success

In today's business world, being a personally accountable organization is more valuable than ever before. The average consumer has his hands full just trying to pay the mortgage. Often, consumers complain that they have no confidence in the government, in banking, or in big business because these industries lack personal accountability. Where personal accountability is maximized, consumer confidence is increased. This increase in consumer confidence leads to the result every business is seeking to obtain; a healthy profit. Show a person that a business takes responsibility for its actions and decisions, and that person begins to trust.

Exceptional Leaders...
         Foster Employee EngagementRe-engage

An engaged employee is someone who is motivated, finds personal worth in his or her work and is committed to the accomplishment of goals. They consider their contribution to the organization as essential to achieving organizational goals. Exceptional Leaders know that effective leadership is the key to developing and maintaining employee engagement.

Typically, 50% of employees are engaged, 30% not engaged and 20% disengaged. Research and common sense say that companies with more employees engaged are more successful, have higher productivity, have better customer relations, and have a more positive organizational culture.

Seven Ideas For Motivating The Workforce

Personal recognition is one of the most effective ways of motivating employees toward top-notch performance. Author Don Martin offers these strategies:

Confer meaningful titles. It costs little to give an employee a title and provides recognition by making a statement within and without the organization. The key word, though, is meaningful. The employee and others will recognize when titles are hollow.

Build quality circles. This is a way of telling achievers that they have earned their way into a select group of players--the very way pro bowls and all-star games do in sports. Many companies offer benefits and other tangible incentives along with status and recognition.
