First Fridays at Denver Open Media
Every First Friday, Deproduction and Denver Open Media
feature some of the best local music and performance art that Denver
has to offer. Broadcast live on DOM Channel 57, as well as KGNU community
radio 1390 AM, these events are a great way to check out our space and
enjoy live, local music.
October 3, 2008 8-10PM Come celebrate the first Friday of the month at 700 Kalamath Street with your community media families: DOM & KGNU. Musical performances by Dave Halchak, Ryan Madson and Jose-Maria Ramas plus the comedic stylings of Star the Renaissance Woman of Comedy. The weather's getting cooler so come check out the beautiful Santa Fe Arts District before old man winter comes along!
Know
of a band or a local non-profit organization that you think should be
highlighted during our next First Friday event? Encourage them to
apply here.

Meeting Space Available for Members and Nonprofits
In an effort to expand our partnerships with local non-profits and
reach new and under-served communities, Denver Open Media offers
use of our studio-auditorium for meetings and small group activities.
In exchange for the use of space we ask only that the host organization
provides information to their participants about DOM and our work to
put the power of the media to work for under-represented and
under-served communities through our media education programs, cable
television stations, and our growing network of noncommercial web and
TV outlets. Space is available on a first-come-first-served basis, with
priority given to members of Denver Open Media. If interested in this opportunity, please complete our short online application.
Please note: Food and drink are not permitted in our studios, and use of the space
does not include use of A/V equipment,
all of which is available for rent or free of charge through our
membership program.

Improve Your Karma at Denver Open Media From the Blog of Deproduction's new Senior Developer, Kevin Reynan:
September 8, 2008: "One of the first things I did at DOM was to enable users to start accumulating Karma.
Initially this added some information to each user's profile, but
didn't do much else. Today, that karma actually started having an
impact. Users with more than 20 karma points who rate videos will have
that rating count twice. Users with more than 30 karma points will have
their ratings count 3 times. 40+, 4 times and 50 or more will count a
maximum of 5 times. This "bonus multiplier" only happens when you rate
a video for the the first time." How much Karma do you have? Simply log into your account on the DOM homepage, and peep your "karma score", displayed next to your user name.
