Message regarding MicroBusiness Development and the DOM Community
On July 17, 2008 the board of MicroBusiness Development unfortunately decided to terminate all employees due to financial problems. We are sad to see the MBD staff go, and hope the important service they provided to the community is revived at some point in the near future. Their absence means DOM will be asking more of our members. Without reception or janitorial services, we look to our community to help keep things orderly and clean. We are expecting huge numbers of independent journalists to be utilizing our facility during the DNC, and we desperately need volunteer help from 9am to 10pm From August 19th to 30th, in 3 or 4-hour shifts. There is no access to the second floor of the building, and members should be aware of the alarm system upstairs. Thank you very much for your cooperation during this unique time and let us know if you have any questions or if you are able to help volunteer during the DNC.

Extended hours at Denver Open Media during the DNC
The Colorado Independent Media Center, together with KGNU, DOM, and MicroBusiness Development, has announced its plans for media access and services before and during the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The Colorado Independent Media Center will be establishing a computer lab for independent video and radio journalists in the MicroBusiness Development building at 700 Kalamath street, with space and computers donated by MicroBusiness Development and Community Computer Connection. From August 19th to August 30th, this facility will be open weekdays from 9:30am to 9:30pm and weekends from 11am-6pm.
In addition, KGNU and Denver Open Media will be coordinating special access to their video and radio resources for visiting independent media producers interested in covering the DNC, with live TV, Radio, and Internet broadcasts. Denver Open Media will be broadcasting live from our studios from 5-9pm following each day of the convention, allowing any independent journalist to drop-in and share photos, video and audio recordings, and in-person accounts of the day, live on TV. DOM will also have production, editing, and uploading resources available from 1:30-9:30pm for members and independent producers covering the DNC. KGNU will be broadcasting live on the radio from 6-10pm, with drop-in interview slots open from 6-7pm daily. In order to access these resources, independent journalists will need to register with the Colorado IMC at Free Speech TV, 2900 Welton Street Monday-Friday from 9am to 6pm or on-line at COIMC.org
