OUSD Alternative Schools and California Youth Outreach Help Youth Leave Gang Life
The Measure Y Gang Intervention program operated by California Youth Outreach (CYO) at OUSD Alternative Schools is making progress assisting youth with a way out of gang life. Last year, a student named "Juan" was affiliated with Norteņos and deeply involved in a drug lifestyle when a California Youth Outreach Youth Intervention Specialist (YIS) began working with him. East Oakland Apartments Begin to Revive
A few months ago in East Oakland, Problem Solving Officer Jack Doolittle started cleaning up a bungalow apartment complex that was a haven for local drug dealers. The property is close by Castlemont High School and became a prime location for the buying and selling of Marijuana and Ecstasy. Read more about this project.
