Turning it Around: Marcus' Story  "Marcus", age 15, was referred to the Measure Y Program in June of 2006. Marcus was living at home with both of his parents and several siblings. At the time of referral, he had dropped out of high school, was on probation for a misdemeanor, and his home life was unstable and in crisis. Two years prior, Marcus's brother was shot and killed while walking out of a neighborhood store. The family was devastated by the tragedy. Read more about Marcus... |

Did You Know?  Through the funds raised through Measure Y, the rotating closure of fire stations has been eliminated. You never have to worry whether your local fire station is closed, because every fire station in Oakland is now open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Learn more about the public safety improvements paid for through Measure Y. |
