New Site for J/Owners
J/109 LogoJ/Boats has announced the "pre-launch" of a new website called J Owner Resources.  The site provides a password-protected platform for owners to access technical information as well as connect with dealers and equipment providers.  109 owners are among the first to gain access.

The ultimate goal is to upload 31 years of J/Boats related information. This site is very much a "work in progress" and J/Boats welcomes owner input, as well as any tips that can be added to the knowledge base.  For more info please visit  jowners.org.

Robert
& Dr. Cornelia Zerban of Kenosha, Wis. on ZEITGEIST paced the J/109 class on all three days and finished with a final score of 18 points. As a result of their outstanding performance this weekend, Robert and Dr. Cornelia were named the overall winners of the 2008 Chicago NOOD regatta.

More than 1,000 sailors and 246 boats from around the world, including New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and throughout the United States set sail on Lake Michigan for three days of competitive racing in a variety of classes.

"It's such an amazing feeling and an honor to be named the winners of this regatta," said Robert Zerban. "We had a such a great time in Chicago and we couldn't have accomplished what we did without the help of our excellent crew."

As the overall winner in the Windy City, the Zerbans will be invited to participate in the 2008 NOOD Regatta Championships in the British Virgin Islands in November to compete aboard Sunsail 39's against the overall winners from each stop on the nine-regatta Sperry Top-Sider NOOD circuit.

You're Invited to Perth (Amboy)
Dave Frizell writes:

Please forward this invitation to attend Red Grant Regatta, July 12 and 13 at Raritan Yacht Club in Perth Amboy, NJ.

It's a great event, with a great party in a great facility.  Sailing conditions in recent years have been fabulous. We had 5 109's last year (with Mad Dogs getting the trophy). To encourage participation, the RC is offering registration at $45.00 for first time participants. RYC does not charge mooring fees to racers. Perth Amboy can be reached by train for convenience of crew attendance. Guaranteed good time. Registration online at www.ryc.org.

Block Island Race Week 2008
While overall regatta enrollment was down from prior years, you wouldn't have known it by the quality and quantity of racing packed into the week. Regatta hosts Duck Island Yacht Club and Zuse, Inc. ran 11 races over 5 days, including the classic Round the Island Race midweek. Greg Ames and Steve Kenny on GOSSIP held off a late charge from Ted Herlihy (GUT FEELING) to win by one point.
