Mt. Bethel has begun construction of our 32nd Habitat Home. Weekday & weekend volunteers are needed to help build the home and to provide lunches for the volunteers.  You can sign up at mtbethel.org/habitat or pick up a registration form on Sundays at the Habitat table in the connector. "Farewell & God Bless" -  Nic & Lisa Slade have accepted a position with a church in Gwinnett County. The Slades have been a part of the Mt. Bethel family for eight years and although we hate to see them leave, we wish them well. We will have a reception for them in the Fellowship Hall after Encounter on October 14, their last Sunday here.

The Career Ministry of Mt. Bethel UMC will meet on Tuesday, October 9, at the Mt. Bethel Community Center (4608 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA  30068).  Resume reviews begin at 6:30pm with the Presentation at 7:30pm. The topic for the evening is How to Interview & Negotiate Pay. Most job seekers find dealing with pay issues to be one of the most challenging components of their job search. How do you address the dreaded questions "what is your current pay" and "what pay do you expect"? Compensation is perceived by most employees and job seekers as a "black box" because compensation management principles, systems, and rates of pay are not openly communicated to either employees or job seekers. This session will focus on preparing you to answer the two dreaded questions as well as open up the "black box" to provide you with the inside information that you need to be prepared to manage all aspects of the pay component of your job search.  But before you discuss pay with a prospective employer, it is essential that you prepare for the interview and interview well.  During our session we will also review interviewing best practices, resources that can help increase your chances of success, and finally techniques that improve the quality of your phone, video, and in person interviewing. The Tuesday Grief Support Group will begin on October 9, at 7:00pm in B106.  Grief is a serious issue, but by participating with others and sharing your experience, you can be helped.  This Grief Support Group meets for 9 weeks and its purpose is to assist anyone who has lost a friend or loved one. One need not be a member of Mt. Bethel to attend, so tell those you know who are under the strain of loss that they are welcome. Wil Parker will lead the group. Action Ministries Breakthru House invites you to the Georgia premiere of "Lost in Woonsocket" -a critically-acclaimed film which chronicles a powerful journey from addiction to recovery.
