Mt. Bethel UMC

September 23, 2012

Randy
Celebrate Mt. Bethel!

Mt. Bethel is such a unique church, filled with friendly "characters," that we want to celebrate our church family on a regular basis. Once per quarter we will all gather under the same roof for celebratory worship services in the Sanctuary and then break bread together. All of this is part of our "Shift" Ministry.

We are one big family with many different and unique family features. We have grandparents, parents, grandchildren; young, older and middle aged singles; children, toddlers, teens. Some of us are most blessed to have actual family members who can gather for family celebrations. Some of us have the desire to celebrate as family but can't due to distance and circumstance. Many of our younger families have a great desire to "adopt" Mt. Bethel grandparents. Many of our empty-nesters have a desire to "adopt" Mt. Bethel children and grandchildren. Many of our singles have a desire to form a family unit with Mt. Bethel members. This is known as Intergenerational Ministry.

In order for this ministry to succeed, we need everyone's help . . . no exceptions. We need our older members to be willing to pair-up with younger members. We need to develop relationships with families experiencing the empty-nest with young parents struggling to raise children, and middle parents striving to raise teenagers. We need opportunities to celebrate and experience life together, intergenerationally!

Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 30, 9:30 and 11:00 in the Sanctuary for combined worship. Don't miss the picnic on the "Fields of Dreams"  beginning at 11:00. It's a time for celebrating our blessings as a Church family!

I can't wait to celebrate and express my heartfelt gratitude for God's blessings experienced through our Mt. Bethel family.

                Hope to celebrate with you!

Our Joys & Concerns

The rosebud on the altar is in honor of the birth of Fiona Lucia Cunha, daughter of Anthony & Megan Cunha, and granddaughter of Keith & Cathy Cunha, on September 17, 2012.

The altar flowers are given to the Glory of God; in loving memory of Miss Mellie and in honor of the birthday of Grace Davis, given by Charles & Herlene Gilbert.

The Paschal Candle burns in honor of the life of Kimberly Warden Rary, now living in the Father's House. The Paschal Candle also burns in honor of the baptisms of Matthew Edward Trent & Ryan Christopher Trent, sons of Michael & Grace Trent; Zachary Randall Maris, son of Kevin & Stacey Maris; and Thomas Jeffrey Krizner, son of Jeffrey & Alison Krizner.

We extend Christian sympathy to Lianne & Kelly Driver in the loss of Lianne's mother-in-law, Lela Mae Driver; and to Michael & Elizabeth Rary, Helen Warden, John Galbreath,  and Pat, Kathy, Nicole & Kristen Rary in the loss of Michael's wife, Kimberly Warden Rary. May God hold you in the palm of His hand during this time of grief.

We wish to congratulate Patricia Granberg & Graham McGonigal who were married in our Chapel on September 15, 2012 by Rev. Wil Parker.

To get the home up and running, there are many baby items and supplies that we will need to be able to give the Kenyan babies the best care possible when they are brought to us. On Sunday, September 23, from 3:00-5:00, Project 82 will be hosting a baby shower at Mt. Bethel UMC in Room B116. Calling all supporters, adults and children alike, of missions in India!  Please join us for a "Friends of India" Ice Cream Social on Sunday, September 23, at 4:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. Reverend Dr. Peter Pereira and his wife Esther, the founders of Hope For Today in India, will share with us how your gifts have been used to advance the cause of Christ in a country that hungers to hear the good news. Come and see how your "compassion into action" was received this year in India. Whether you have sponsored a child, made God's Eyes, prayer journals, donated socks, band aids, ziploc bags, prayed for India or for someone going on a mission trip, or, simply, if you are interested in seeing how God is moving powerfully in this country, this social is for you!  Rejoice with us as we see how God is using Hope for Today and your prayers and gifts to "bring in the harvest."

The Career Ministry of Mt. Bethel UMC will meet on Tuesday, September 25, at the Mt. Bethel Community Center (4608 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA  30068).  Resume reviews begin at 6:30pm/ Presentation at 7:30pm. The topic for the evening will be LinkedIn.
