Randy
Devoted Love???
Milton Berle once joked, "All the world loves a lover - except people who are waiting to use the phone."

Love has many faces. The faces we see on TV so often are ones of infatuation and romance. We speak of "falling in love" and feel, too, as if it were a free-fall. But the face of love I appreciate the most is not romance (although I do love that face), but one I can always count on to be there. The face I most appreciate is the face of devotion.

One can see that face in the couple who were engaging in a dinner-time disagreement. To the family's amazement, the husband jumped up from the table, grabbed two sheets of paper, and said to his wife, "Let's make a list of everything we don't like about each other!"

His wife agreed and proceeded to write. He, meantime, sat and stared at her. She looked up and he began to write. She continued listing complaints, as he stared across the table at her. Again, when she looked up, he put pen to paper and continued writing. He stopped to watch her, and every time she caught his eye, he wrote again.

They finally finished. "Let's exchange complaints," he said. They handed each other their lists. She glanced at his sheet and pleaded, "Give mine back!" . . . all down his sheet, he had written, "I love you, I love you, I love you."

As much as we might enjoy romance, it's unwavering devotion that we need the most. We need to know that love which says, "I will be with you through it all." It's a face that can often be seen on parents and grandparents, on spouses, and even on very good friends. It's also a face that, when we gaze closely, we can see the face of God.

The face of devoted love was really seen in just one of the Disciple's faces when Jesus was on the cross. Yet, before it was all said and done, each Disciple exemplified devoted love . . . even Thomas. Join us this Sunday and hear how.

By the way, if you haven't noticed that face of love lately, His big yellow church reflects it very well - come and see!

In His Devoted Love,
Randy

Calling all supporters, adults and children alike, of missions in India!  Please join us for a "Friends of India" Ice Cream Social on Sunday, September 23, at 4:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. Reverend Dr. Peter Pereira and his wife Esther, the founders of Hope For Today in India, will share with us how your gifts have been used to advance the cause of Christ in a country that hungers to hear the good news. Come and see how your "compassion into action" was received this year in India. Whether you have sponsored a child, made God's Eyes, prayer journals, donated socks, band aids, ziploc bags, prayed for India or for someone going on a mission trip, or, simply, if you are interested in seeing how God is moving powerfully in this country, this social is for you!  Rejoice with us as we see how God is using Hope for Today and your prayers and gifts to "bring in the harvest."

Very little training is needed for this volunteer job! We need folks on Wednesdays afternoons from 3:00-6:00. Thanks! Sherry Reed, Volunteer Librarian - reedsa@att.net

The longer the merchandise sits in the workroom; the less that is available for our clients and customers who need it. We can use any time you are able to give.  Please contact Monti Price at 770-789-2223.  295 Molly Lane, Woodstock, GA.
