August 26, 2012
He was not well educated and his manner somewhat crude and rough. He became a Christian and was "on fire for the Lord," constantly pestering his pastor to let him be of some genuine service to the church. In desperation, the pastor gave him a list of ten people, saying, "These members seldom attend services, some are prominent people of the city. Contact them anyway you desire and try to get them to be more faithful. Use the church stationery to write letters if you want, but try to get them active in the church." He accepted the challenge with enthusiasm! About three weeks later, a letter arrived from a prominent business person whose name was on the list. In the envelope was a $10,000 check and this note: "Dear Pastor, Enclosed is my check to make up for missing the offering. I'm sorry for missing worship so often and for never volunteering, but be assured I am going to be present each Sunday from now on, and will volunteer and will not miss the offering again. Sincerely, Milton Jones P.S. Would you kindly tell your secretary that there is only one "t" in dirty and no "c" in skunk!" I promise that no one will receive such a letter from Mt. Bethel! However, would your participation warrant such a letter or would your participation cause you to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant"? I look forward to seeing you this Sunday! Randy Bible Studies - Fall Bible studies are starting soon. Register at www.mtbethel.org and click on Studies. There are descriptions for the short-term Bible studies and Disciple Bible study classes and online registration. Questions, please contact Gayle Haden at gayle.haden@mtbethel.org or 678-560-7427. Life groups for 4th and 5th grade children provide a nurturing environment for pre-teens to explore God's Word, grow in their faith, explore their walk with Jesus Christ and build relationships within their peer group. This is a wonderful bridge for children as they begin to transition from children's into student ministry. Life groups are forming now for the 2012-2013 school year. Life groups for children 4th and 5th grade along with a parent/mentor are from 6:30-7:30 pm on Wednesday evenings in the Education Building. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, September 5, in F011.
