"Hear, Ye! Hear, Ye! The Master is calling for leaders to lead His people! His church has a tremendous need for leaders to facilitate Life Groups that will begin in September. The church needs YOU! It cannot operate without YOU! Someone will not be blessed unless you bless them. Someone will not learn unless you teach them. Someone will not come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord unless you introduce them to Him. We need disciples to help train other disciples. Volunteer today - http://mtbethel.org/disciplelife/ or contact Gayle Haden at 678-560-7427 or gayle.haden@mtbethel.org. It will be the most blessed thing you will do this Fall. The other day I was reading from the book of James. As you remember in chapter three, James encourages us to tame the tongue. As a ship's rudder, the tongue is a very small thing; but it can do great damage if we do not keep it in check. For example, I have seen the character of a young girl ruined by the carrier of half-truths and untruths. I have seen the ministry of church workers destroyed because of the tongue and misrepresenting the truth. "The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell" (James 3:6). Don't stop reading at verse six because that will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Read on down to verse nine. "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father..." The tongue can be a blessing as well as a curse. You and I decide how we will use it. Let us praise our Lord and Father and lift up our brothers and sisters with our words. God has ordained that we be a blessing to Him and to others. Let us allow the Holy Spirit to make us into what God wants us to be. We were born into this world to enjoy and be enjoyed by God. Life is a beautiful experience if we live it in a selfless manner. Selflessness was the order of the day for Jesus when He lived on the earth. Jesus calls us to take up our cross daily and follow Him. Let us nail our tongue as well as our entire body to the old rugged cross so that it may bring glory to Jesus Christ. As this particular body of Christ, we are called to be in business with God. His business is "winning souls and making disciples." He has the power and the means to run the business. Let us be about doing our part in the calling of Jesus Christ. Part of our calling is to live before the world in such a way that we make Him look good. This Sunday we will be talking about the character of a disciple. Living in the world as a representative of the very life of Jesus Christ is our calling as one of His disciples. May we submit to Him and commit to love Him in all we do by living like Him in the world. Rev. Glenn Ray

"I have to tell you....until I joined the choir, I didn't feel at all a part of the church. Since then, I have found the choir to be a most welcoming group. In the short time I have been there, I now feel very much at home. I know I am not the strongest voice, but I am happy to give back the talent God has given me." The reflections of a relatively new choir member; how about YOU?! Take the plunge! Come try us for a month, then decide if this is you answering God's call. Wednesdays, Celebration at 6:30 (9:30 service) or Chancel at 7:15 (11 service). We look forward to seeing you!

The Career Ministry of Mt. Bethel UMC will meet on Tuesday, August 14, at the Mt. Bethel Community Center (4608 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30068). Resume reviews begin at 6:30pm and the Presentation at 7:30pm. NEW TOPIC - How to Interview & Negotiate Pay. Most job seekers find dealing with pay issues to be one of the most challenging components of their job search. How do you address the dreaded questions "what is your current pay" and "what pay do you expect"? Compensation is perceived by most employees and job seekers as a "black box" because compensation management principles, systems, and rates of pay are not openly communicated to either employees or job seekers. This session will focus on preparing you to answer the two dreaded questions as well as open up the "black box" to provide you with the inside information that you need to be prepared to manage all aspects of the pay component of your job search. But before you discuss pay with a prospective employer, it is essential that you prepare for the interview and interview well. During our session we will also review interviewing best practices, resources that can help increase your chances of success, and finally techniques that improve the quality of your phone, video, and in person interviewing.

Children's Ministry
Life groups for 4th and 5th grade children provide a nurturing environment for pre-teens to explore God's Word, grow in their faith, explore their walk with Jesus Christ and build relationships within their peer group. Life groups allow timely discussion, hands-on mission projects, Bible study and how to apply Scripture to their everyday lives. This is a wonderful bridge for children as they begin to transition from childrens into students ministry. Life groups are forming now for the 2012-2013 school year. Life groups for children 4th and 5th grade along with a parent/mentor are from 6:30-7:30 pm on Wednesday evenings in the Education Building. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, September 5, in F011. Please contact sherri.juliani@mtbethel.org for more information.
