Mt. Bethel UMC

A careful man, I ought to be;
    A little fellow follows me;
    I do not dare to go astray
    For fear he'll go to the self-same way.

    I cannot once escape his eyes;
    What e'er he sees me do, he tries - -
    Like me, he says, he's going to be;
    The little chap who follows me.

    He thinks that I am good and fine,
    Believes in every word of mine,
    The base in me he must not see,
    The little chap who follows me.

    I must remember as I go,
    Through summer's fun and winter's snow,
     I'm building for the years to be,
      For a little fellow follows me.
                Author Unknown

    Dads, Grandads, Uncles, the finest things we can do for our children is to lead them to Christ, by following Him, teaching Him, exemplifying Him.

                Happy Father's Day!
                Randy Mickler, Senior Pastor

Operation Overboard Vacation Bible School challenged each of us to dare to go deep with God.
As the generations of Mt. Bethel UMC gathered (1,100 strong) together this past week, each of us grew deeper in our faith with God. God showed us how much He loves and cares for us. As we listened to the Bible stories we were challenged to dive into our faith and share God's Word with others. We must all depend on God  in every step we take. Each volunteer dared to care for the children and chose to follow their hearts as they modeled Christ each day giving the children insight to a life in Christ. Each of us can change the world like Paul when he trusted God through the storm. The generations stepped out boldly to change our community working together to put God's word into action. What a joy to be a part of a fun filled week of worshipping and praising God.  As a church family we came together to lead the next generation to be followers of Jesus.  The whole body of Christ joined to make a difference one life at a time. Thank you to every person who made last week a success by giving of their time and energy to serve at Operation Overboard.
                Dianne Hylton and the Children's Ministry Staff

Moms, dads & college students,
if you have the week of July 15-20 open, we really could use your help as a counselor for Camp Hope. And adults, if you have small children, bring them with you. Our kidzkamp is great and your children will have as much fun as you - make it a "family Mission!" College students - most businesses allow you to take this week because it is considered mission service, so ask. Y'all please pray about this & then call Rev. Diane Parrish at 770-971-6646.

This summer Camp S.P.L.A.T. is collecting napkins, paper plates & bowls for Aloha to Aging.
We are also collecting personal care products (travel/hotel size) shampoo, toothpaste,  deodorant, bar soap, mouthwash, and washcloths, hair brush and combs for Atlanta Center for Self-Sufficiency. There will be bins in F015 each Sunday in June and July for the children to bring their donations at 9:30 or 11:00.  We will update the children weekly throughout the summer regarding the collections that have been received and would love to have the children package the hygiene kits if we have enough supplies. This is a wonderful opportunity while shopping with your children this summer to discuss missions and how their contributions can help serve the least of these, Matthew 25:34-40.

Help Georgia's Severely Abused Kids - Murphy-Harpst Children's Center is a non-profit organization that provides abused children with behavioral therapy, healthcare and educational services to give them a real chance at life. Each child arrives with his or her own tragic story. Most have suffered extreme emotional, sexual and physical abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Most have never had a stable place to live with consistent care and regular meals. Many arrive with all their worldly possessions in a single bag and have been declared unmanageable by the foster system. Murphy-Harpst exists because these children need our help. With our services, they can grow up to hold jobs, maintain relationships and become productive members of their communities. To make a donation, please make your checks payable to Mt. Bethel with "Murphy-Harpst" on the for line.

Habitat for Humanity - Road Race Sponsors Needed.  Construction of Mt. Bethel's 32nd Habitat Home will begin in September.  The October Habitat Road Race provides much of the funding for the Habitat homes we build.  Please consider becoming a race sponsor (business, personal, small group, etc.).  Depending on level of sponsorship each sponsor's name or logo will appear on the race t-shirt, all signage and race materials reaching thousands of Cobb County and metro Atlanta residents.  Your support will help another deserving family escape poverty housing and realize their dream of home ownership.  For more information please contact Ashley O'Neil at 770-314-0130 or springfield_ashley@yahoo.com.

Tuesday Nights Under the Bridges - Join us under the bridges of Atlanta with the 7 Bridges Ministry Tuesday, July 10 & August 28. We depart Mt. Bethel at 4pm sharp. The next Vacation Bible School is just around the corner -July 9-13 (9:30-12:30) - and we still need teens and adults to help us mentor to God's children.  We have over half who are not members of Mt. Bethel and some who are unchurched.  You may change a child's life by being here modeling Christ.  Join us for a fun filled week of music, worship and fellowship.  Sign up online or call Dianne Hylton for to get more information - 770-971-5074.

Between June 24 and August 5, we won't be offering breakfast in the dining room on Sunday mornings. Instead, please pick up a muffin at the greeter stations around the church.
