                       Christian Integrity

Dr. Maxie Dunnan, a great communicator and friend, wrote these words: "We must never think or say we are not able or fit to be used by God. God can use us if we are willing to be used, no matter who we are or what our weaknesses may be. We have a dual challenge: (1) to be willing to let God use us and (2) to assure others that they, too, can be used."

As Christ followers we are what Jesus was and is - the light of the world. As radical and impossible as it appears to be, we can't escape from this fact. We must go where Jesus would go, do what Jesus would do, say what Jesus would say, and be what Jesus would be.

John Wesley taught that works of mercy, along with works of piety such as prayer, fasting and reading the Bible, were a means of grace, a spiritual discipline by which we grow in Christlikeness. For Wesley, works of mercy were acts such as visiting prisoners, feeding the hungry, assisting strangers and visiting the sick.

No doubt, you know where I am going with this!

Integrity, for the followers of Christ, involves works of piety and works of mercy! One without the other is hypocritical. It is never enough just to study the Bible. The Devil is also a Biblical scholar! Integrity involves our application of what we study. We must go, seek, do! "Whatever you do to the least of these, who are members of my family, you did it to me." Matthew 25:37.

If you wish to find Jesus . . . join us in our "M25, Opening Our Doors" Ministries. Those who literally are reaching out to the least and lost in the name of Christ are putting their faith to work . . . That's Christian Integrity.

May God bless everyone willing to reach out in the name of Jesus.

Support Groups

The Divorce Support/Recovery Group continues to meet each Wednesday evening at 6:30 in the "H" House.

This group is for those going through one of the most heart-wrenching tragedies that a person can face. Divorce is not the end of one's world, but it can sure seem like it. When people go through such hardships, they need a support/recovery group where they can find acceptance, feel comfortable with, learn from, and have the opportunity to express their emotions with a group that understands.  Trained facilitators help those overwhelmed by the legalities of the divorce process, grieving the hurt of rejection and loss, and confused as to their place in life as a divorcee.  Together we help each other gain confidence and restore self esteem. One need not be a member of Mt Bethel to be a part of this group.  For more information, please call Mike Gilliam at 404-372-7668, Kathy Feldbaum at 770-715-9423 or Wil Parker at 678-560-2801.

Mt. Bethel will begin construction of our 30th & 31st Habitat homes on September 3. Volunteers are needed to help build the homes and to provide lunches for volunteers. There are 14 build dates available to choose from. Lunches are needed on September 3 or 17 only. To provide lunches, please contact Sue Stone at 770-977-3273. You can sign up at www.mtbethel.org/habitat or pick up a registration form on Sundays in August at the Habitat table in the connector. We hope you will join us for a fun and rewarding experience.
