kidz2leaders' annual Benefit Concert will be held on Sunday, August 28, in the Sanctuary. This year, some of our campers will come and sing with Rev. Diane Parrish as well as give their testimonies. Also, new this year will be a Silent Auction which will begin at 5:30 followed by the concert at 6:30. This past summer we had 125 Mt. Bethel members who served with us at Camp Hope! We hope you'll join us for this special event that allows kidz2leaders to make a change in the lives of inmates' children. We can't do it without you!
Mt. Bethel will begin construction of our 30th & 31st Habitat homes on September 3. Volunteers are needed to help build the homes and to provide lunches for volunteers. There are 14 build dates available to choose from. You can sign up at www.mtbethel.org/habitat or pick up a registration form on Sundays in August at the Habitat table in the connector. We hope you will join us for a fun and rewarding experience.
Thank you Shannon Herring! Shannon has grown up in Mt. Bethel and is part of our pride & joy! After graduating from UGA, where she worked and sang with the Wesley Foundation, she returned to Mt. Bethel as one of our student directors. She married Daniel and became the Administrative Assistant to our Student Ministries. She worked tirelessly in our Student Ministries for the past 11 years. Last month, she "retired" to take care of her family - Daniel, Eden and Amelia. God bless you, Shannon, and thank you for making us a better church. - - Randy
All Third Graders: This Sunday August 21 you will receive your own Bible. Please plan to come to 9:30 or 11:00 Sanctuary worship or 11:00 Contemporary worship in the Fellowship Hall. Children will be called to the altar to receive their Bibles. Following each service, please come to the lobby of the Education Building to get your Bible personalized. Cub Scout Pack 121 is having a parent information and registration meeting on Sunday, August 28 at 2:00pm in the Scout Hut. Cub Scouting is open to all boys entering the 1st through 4th grade. Parents of boys entering the 1st grade will work together to form dens for the boys and pick leaders, however, all parents of 1st graders are very active in the den activities. Parents of 2nd-4th grade boys may also form dens or depending on the numbers, may join existing dens. Discussion at the meeting will include what the program events are scheduled for this year, how dens are formed and meet, and question and answer session. Homeless Ministry Visits Under the Bridges - Would you like to visit the homeless under the bridges in Atlanta? On Tuesday night, August 23, meet at the church at 4:00. Bring a case of water. We'll grab a burger at US Café, tour the Garden and pick up our guides and sack meals to distribute. We will be back at the church around 10:00pm. Mt. Bethel's Career Ministry will meet on Tuesday, August 23, at Mt. Bethel's Community Center (4608 Lower Roswell Road near the corner of Woodlawn Drive). Resume reviews begin at 6:30pm and the presentation starts at 7:30pm. The evening's topic is Leveraging Technology. Don't just hit apply, use technology as a networking tool to meet hiring managers. By now you know that the Internet has changed job search strategy completely. Use this to your advantage by ensuring that you can be found online easily by recruiters and hiring managers and that your brand is clear. This session provides an inside look into how recruiters search for job seekers and how you can leverage job boards, search engines, and social networking to expand access and boost your odds of success in your job hunting expedition. We'll also cover what your information looks like to recruiters when they're trying to fill an open position. Last, after attending this session, you will know how to go beyond just the company website by researching your target companies and open positions via Google, Facebook and LinkedIn. Need volunteers to make welcome baskets for girls 12-17 rescued from forced prostitution in metro Atlanta. Baskets will be presented to girls as they come into the program at Wellspring Living. Most girls have just the clothes on their backs. We will meet on Saturday, August 27, from 4-6 pm. If you can't make this gathering but want to help, a list of items needed appears below. The Atlanta Center for Self-Sufficiency (formerly the Samaritan House) needs your donations. They always have a need for men and women's dress clothes, i.e. suits, dresses, sport coats, slacks, dress shirts, blouses (please use hangers), ties, shoes and belts to wear on job interviews. Casual clothes, men's leather dress shoes and new underwear & socks are also needed. Drop items off at the Missions trailer to the left of the CAC. Do you want to do life with your 4th or 5th grade child and intentionally grow in God's Word, understanding of the scriptures, and fellowship; while spiritually guiding your child? Would you like to celebrate on Sunday mornings with the children at Mt. Bethel and assist the worship leaders with songs, games, and creating a welcoming environment for the children?
