Mt. Bethel UMC

Message from the Minister

Why Tithe? (10%)

Randy
I believe tithing is the minimum expression of Christian stewardship:
... Because I want our outreach ministries to be fully funded.
... Because I want the children to have clean nurseries.
... Because I think our utilities should be paid.
... Because Jesus Christ said it is important (Matt. 22:21, Malachi 3:8-11)
... Because I think ministry "To The Least and Lost" is important.
... Because I believe the youth deserve leadership as they make lifelong decisions regarding Jesus Christ.

... Because I had rather preach indoors than out-of-doors.
... Because I believe in missionaries, United Methodist colleges, hospitals,
retirement homes, inner city missions and scholarships for under-
    privileged young people.
... Because I believe the church can lift today's fallen society.
... Because I want Mt. Bethel out front, leading the way for the Cause of
Christ in this community and throughout the world.
... Because God has given me more than I can ever repay, and this is one
way I can express my gratitude.
... Because the "Way of the Cross" requires sacrifice on my part.

These are some of the reasons that my family believes in tithing.  The tithe (ten percent of one's income) must never be confused with charity givings.  We give to a number of other causes (as many of you) but the tithe comes first and is solely for God's work.  I hope and trust that you will prayerfully consider tithing in your Christian stewardship.

Our 2011 Pledge Sunday is Palm Sunday, April 17.

                        God Bless you,
                        Randy Mickler
                        Senior Pastor

Thank you so much to the more than 800 volunteers who participated in the Great Day of Service.  Our Children's Mission Project sent more than 200 lunches and hygiene kits to our homeless friends living under the bridges.  Over 1,000 bales of pine straw were spread throughout the metro area.  Numerous local missions and schools were spruced up and painted. It really was a Great Day!

The HOPE Center will be having its Walk for Life on Saturday, April 30, at Kell High School. It's a short two mile walk. We are looking for both walkers and sponsors. There will be a table in the connector to sign up on April 3, 10 & 17. It's very easy to also sign up online. We hope to take a bus of Mt. Bethel folks over for the 8:30am start. The walk should be over by 10:00. This is one of The HOPE Center's two fundraisers for the year so let's have good support from Mt. Bethel this year.

The next Healing Service is Sunday, April 3, at 12:15pm in the Chapel. All are invited to attend.

Missions

LETS FILL UP THE TRAILER !! The West Virginia ministry is in desperate need of donations--especially household items such as sheets, towels, plates, flatware, working appliances, decorative items like figurines, frames, pictures, etc. You might

have a bunch of this stuff packed away somewhere that you will not use again. They are much needed and appreciated in W.Va. Let's try to fill our donation trailer before April 28 when the next team will take it with them. Also, we have had some

recent openings for both the April and May trips and cannot go short-handed the way this ministry is growing. Please consider joining one of these three-day mission trips. Contact Larry Armstrong at 678/457-7524  for more information. You will be blessed!

Career Ministry

The Career Ministry will meet on Tuesday, April 12 at the Mt. Bethel Community Center (4608 Lower Roswell Road). Resume Reviews begin at 6:30pm with the presentation at 7:30. The topic for the evening will be "Developing your Personal Brand."  Your employment brand is a critical component of your job search. In today's competitive job market you must be able to communicate who and what you are and identify the skills and knowledge that you bring to a prospective job.  This session focuses on developing your employment brand and integrating it into new and existing job search materials. There will be plenty of exercises and examples to help you understand and implement this critical step. You will leave with a new sales and marketing approach to your search, plus a process and the tools to successfully position yourself to compete. For more information visit the Mt. Bethel UMC website or contact Kibbie Jones at 678-560-7230.
