They  have studied their faith and this Sunday will be confirmed in the Christian Faith as they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Our Joys & Concerns

The altar flowers are given to the Glory of God; in loving memory of Melanie Stolz  and in honor of Wayne Stolz in recognition of their 48th wedding anniversary, given by Stacy, Bill, Lily, Griffin, Tim, Sasha, Abby & Alice.

 

The rosebuds on the altar are in honor of the birth of George Thomas Braswell, III, son of Chad & Tricia Braswell and grandson of Tom & Paula Braswell, on March 15, 2011; and Elizabeth Margaret Watts, daughter of Stephen & Stephanie Watts and granddaughter of Dean & Susan Hawkins, on March 11, 2011.

 

Recently hospitalized: Mara Canning, Rebecca Herring, Doris Keel, Dan Komitor, Onzella McGlamory, Don Stokley, Cliff Taylor, Terry Vick.

Preparing for Middle School! There will be small peer groups forming this spring for girls and boys (separate groups) who are entering middle school in the fall. The groups will be facilitated by a counselor and will cover various topics related to preparing for middle school.  The groups are also a great way for soon-to-be middle schoolers to develop a support network with other rising middle schoolers. The groups will meet for four 1 hour sessions and some of the subjects to be covered will be peer pressure, study skills, body image, self-esteem and bullying. Egg Collection for the Easter Egg Hunt has begun! If you have a child who is planning on attending the Egg Hunt Saturday, April 23 on the "Fields of Dreams," please bring 1 dozen prize-filled eggs for each child participating to Children's Ministry by April 17.  If you just want to help us out, you can bring plastic eggs or candy as well.  We will collecting over 4000 eggs for the children to hunt.  Thank you ahead of time for your help for this day.  If you have any questions please call Dianne Hylton 770-971-5074. 

 

Consignment Sale - The Consignment Sale was a huge success thanks to all the volunteers that gave of their time and service!!  It's now time to disburse the proceeds to those in need both locally and around the world.  The disbursement form is available online.  Please download it, fill it out and return the form, by April 1, to Kris Michaelides.  Copies of the form are also available at the church front desk.

 

Children's Ministry

 

CHARGE! Retreat sign up . . . registration is well underway for CHARGE! Retreat - April 30-May 1.  We have limited spaces and want to be sure everyone who wants to be a part of this fun filled, faith growing weekend can come.  Parents if you have a 4th or 5th grader we would love to have them join us in North Georgia at Camp Evergreen April 30-May 1.  We also need adult chaperones.  Cost is $150 and the memories, friendships and fellowship lasts a lifetime.  For more information call Dianne Hylton at 770-971-5074 or look on our website

INFUSION CAMP registration has begun!  Infusion is an overnight camp for rising 5th - 8th graders at Camp Evergreen from June 19-24. Infusion Camp is a time we want to Ignite, Inspire, Ingrain and Infuse God's marvelous Word into our students' hearts and souls. You will not want your student to miss out on this opportunity. These middle school years are vital  years to build strong friendships and choose to live a life for Christ. Register now online.

Vacation Bible School is around the corner. Join us June 6-10 from 12:30-3:30 as we "Shake it Up! Where Kids Carry out God's Recipe!"  Then July 11-15 from 9:30-11:30 for "PandaMania - Where God is Wild about You!"  Registration is underway and we need volunteers to make these 2 weeks memorable and life- changing for our children ages 4K-6th grade(rising 4K -6th grade/must be 4 by 9/1/11).  We have openings in all areas from station leader to crew leader.  For more information please call Dianne Hylton 770-971-5074

 

 

High School Seniors

 

Applications for the Mt. Bethel Women's Circle $2,000 Scholarship, awarded to a senior girl, are available in the Church Office. Call or email Carol Banks at 770-565-4203 with any questions. The applications will be due back by May 2. The scholarship will be awarded at Baccalaureate Service on May 22.

 

The 2011 Reverend and Mrs. Robert Infinger Scholarship Award will be presented on Baccalaureate Sunday, May 22. The $2,500 scholarship is presented to a graduating male high school senior in recognition of his time, gifts and service to Mt. Bethel in furthering God's Kingdom. Download the letter of instruction and application online. Deadline for submission is May 2. Applications may me dropped off at the front office to the attention of MB Men's Ministry.

 

Deborah V. Pierce Scholarship - Applications for this $2,000 scholarship will be available in the Church office and on the Church website beginning March 9.  Applications must be postmarked by no later than April 22 to be eligible for consideration.  Please call Julie Lierly at 770-579-3056 with any questions.

This is our high-school-only worship service.  Come for a great message and a time of worship.  

 

High School Collision | March  27th | 6-8pm  | CAC | Dodgeball Tournament
All High School Students are invited to meet us for  a Dodgeball Tournament.   Teams will need to be made up of 7 players, and are required to have at least two girls. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning team!! No preregistration required, just sign up the first night of the tournament. Contact Chad Gilbert for more information.

Attention all Life Group students and leaders! MBSM is excited to announce our first annual Video Music Awards! The awards will take place on Sunday, April 17. We're asking you to dress up (semi-formal dress) and join your friends for a night full of glamour, food, fellowship, and fun! Videos  are due!! Middle School Faith & Sexuality - As many of you know, we normally offer a Faith and Sexuality class to our 8th graders.  As we've reevaluated the effectiveness of this class, we've decided to address this subject every year in Life Groups in an age-appropriate manner.  Alongside of our student discussions in Life Groups, we will also be offering a parent class.  The parent classes will meet on March 27 from 5-6pm in the Upper Room to discuss "How to talk to your kid about sex.". College and Young Adult Ministry

 

Weekly gatherings:

Tuesday night Life Group meets at 7pm, at Gaylyn and Michael Kelly's house and we are going through the book of Isaiah.

Sunday mornings 9:30 am, CAC Aerobics room, for Bible study.

1st and 3rd Friday's time at the GARDEN, 6:30 pm pitch in where needed and worship together. 

Every Wednesday from 1-3pm time at the GARDEN with our friends there.  Tutoring, loving, talking, and hanging out.

Recreation Ministry

 

Youth Spring Sports is underway with close to 1150 kids, 250+ coaches and 120 team coordinators participating. Thanks to everyone involved!

 

 

Youth Spring Sports Pictures will begin Monday, March 21 and continue through Saturday, March 26.  Your coach or team coordinator will give you your specific date and time.  Picture schedule is also posted on the website.

Soccer Camp - Tuesday, May 31 - Friday, June 3 | 9am-12:30pm | Co-ed Boys and Girls, Ages 4-12 | Rates: Mt. Bethel Member: $115, Non-Member: $140

This camp focuses on teaching the correct execution of skills to prepare players for the next level. The fun competitions and individual attention will improve any player's skills.

Baseball Camp - Tuesday, May 31 - Friday, June 3 | 1:30-5pm | Boys, Rising Kindergarten - 5th Grades | Rates: Mt. Bethel Member: $115, Non-Member: $140

Mt. Bethel UMC along with Sports-A-Rama will present our summer baseball camp. Camp instructors are comprised of former major and minor league players, current and former collegiate players and high school coaches. This camp will focus on players' mechanical and fundamental skills.

Sports Camp I - Monday, June 13 - Friday, June 17 | 9am-4:30pm | Rising 2nd - 5th Grades | Rates: Mt. Bethel Member: $250, Non-Member: $275

Campers will be participating in the following: soccer, basketball, baseball, kickball, dodgeball, indoor rock climbing, etc. Some off-site activities include bowling, miniature golf, Stone Mountain and Red Top Mountain. Campers will participate in a mission project and devotionals.

Four-day camp focusing on fundamentals of the game: shooting, passing, dribbling and defense lead by our own Roger Kaiser (2-time All American for Ga. Tech, won three national championships as coach).   

 

Volleyball Camp (Monday-Wednesday) - Rates: Mt. Bethel Member:$75, Non-Member $95

Session I - July 25-27, 9am-12pm, Girls, rising 4th/5th grades

Session II -July 25-27, 1-4pm, Girls rising 6th-8th Grades

This 3-day camp lead by Mt. Bethel Christian Academy volleyball coaches Melissa Sneed and Brian Bergius will focus on the rules and fundamentals of volleyball while incorporating game play situations.

 

Mt. Bethel Night @ the Braves!- Friday, June 17th vs Texas Rangers. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased in the CAC. We will parade around the field before the game.  Mt. Bethel will also perform the National Anthem. Fireworks after the game. Everyone is welcome!  

 

Women's Ministry
