Mt. Bethel UMC - Compassion Into Action
Message from the Minister

                                 Christmas Is . . .
. . . Decorating, cooking, eating . . . decorating, cooking and eating some more! Visiting with friends and family. Listening to "Carols for Christmas" from across the years, as well as the present. Singing the old favorite carols and hymns . . . off key.
. . . A time to put love into deeds, as well as words. It's listening to children's choirs and watching their excitement mount with each song. It's seeing amazement on the face of the littlest angel as she was holding Angel Gabriel's hand, aka John Dolan.
. . . Finding that special ornament full of memories and placing it on the tree, with tears of love and gratitude. That feeling that makes you warm inside when you greet someone with "Merry Christmas" . . . and they return the smile and "Merry Christmas."
. . . Being asked repeatedly, "Can Santa really see us?" and "Is he the real Santa?" Sending Christmas cards even to those who don't. Sharing warm laughter with good friends and eggnog with more "nog" than egg.
. . . The warmth and beauty of our church, inside and out. Candlelight services, "O Holy Night" and Holy Communion.
. . . Knowing our loved ones now living in the Father's House are celebrating this Christmas with our living Christ, and for them nothing could be finer! It's reading Luke's account of the greatest gift ever. Watching children handle the nativity scene figures with newfound understanding. Poinsettias, Birthday Gifts for Jesus, Chrismon trees, candles, stockings, and "the Light shining in the darkness."
Christmas can never be regulated to a single day or event. It's knowing that God loves you and has a place for you in His friendly, yellow church and in His eternal home. Christmas is the spirit that produces hope and changes lives.

God bless you and Merry Christmas!
                                      Randy Mickler

If you would like to donate stock to Mt. Bethel, please go to mtbethel.org  On the front page of the website, go to the "online giving" button, located near the bottom of the main web page. Click on the button, and then click on the file located below the credit card symbols. This is  the form to use for transferring stock to Mt. Bethel . . . just fill it out and give to your account representative for your stock transfers. Then just e-mail Gale Koven to let her know the name of the stock you are transferring to Mt. Bethel and the giving purpose of the donation. Please remember charitable contributions must be claimed in the year they are delivered.  One exception is a check mailed to a charity: it is deductible in the year the check is mailed (post-marked), even if it is received early in the next year. Career Ministry

Join us on Tuesday, December 14 at the Mt. Bethel Community Center for the next meeting of Mt. Bethel's Career Ministry. The night's topic is Compensation. "Pay and Your Job Search - What Should I Say?"  Most job seekers find dealing with pay issues to be one of the most challenging components of their job search. How do you address the dreaded questions, "What is your current pay" and "What pay do you expect"? Compensation is perceived by most employees and job seekers as a "black box" because compensation management principles, systems, and rates of pay are not openly communicated to either employees or job seekers. This session will focus on preparing you to answer the two dreaded questions as well as open up the "black box" to provide you with the inside information that you need to be prepared to manage all aspects of the pay component of your job search.

Resume Review begins at 6:30pm / Presentation begins at 7:30pm.
