Hanging of the Greens - On Sunday, November 28, there will be ONE service in the Sanctuary at 10:00am for the Hanging of the Greens. There will be no Sunday School, Children's Worship or God's Garden. Nursery will be provided for infants through two-year-olds. A brunch in the Fellowship Hall will be available following the service. Menu: Eggs Benedict Casserole, Cheesy Grits, Crispy Bacon, Baby Potato Cakes, Strawberry Mixed Green Salad, Chicken Tenders, Fresh Fruit Slices, Sticky Buns, Muffins, Coffee, Miss Priss Punch. Tickets for the brunch ($5 for adults and $3 for children) may be purchased in the Bookstore or at mtbethel.org by Sunday, November 21. Bring a bell with you to the Hanging of the Greens - you'll find out why!
Angel Tree Project begins November 7 and runs through December 5. The "Angels" represent children in foster care and adults who are being assisted by the Department of Family and Children Services. Trees will be located in the connector hallway, the F Building lobby and the nursery hallway. Please pick up an Angel and spread the spirit of Christmas to those in need.
Operation Christmas Child - Last year 8.1 million children experienced hope through the power of a simple gift - your gift of a shoe box. You can make a difference this year by filling a box, wrapping it in prayer, and bringing it to the altar for dedication on Sunday, November 21. Flyers with packing information can be found throughout the church. You can even print your own packing label through the Samaritan's Purse website. These shoe boxes open doors for presenting the Good News of Jesus Christ through the distribution of Gospel booklets and follow-up discipleship programs. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse, the Christian relief and evangelism ministry led by Franklin Graham.
This year's Carols for Christmas concert will be Sunday, December 5, at 4:00 and 6:30pm in the Sanctuary. Please save the date & invite your friends.
Here We Grow! Mt. Bethel Christian Academy invites you to attend our Fall Open House on Sunday, November 14, at 3:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Your Worship Committee is calling for HELP!!!! The Hanging of the Greens service will be at 10:00am on Sunday, November 28. We need lots of helping hands (men AND women) in getting out all the Christmas decorations and readying them for hanging. We will meet at 1:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 21, in the Narthex area. Ribbons & Holly Handcrafted Market Show | Saturday, November 6 | 9am-5pm | in the Fellowship Hall - Do your holiday shopping under one roof. We will have a great selection of vendors, unique gifts and objects of art, silent auction, chance to win a homemade quilt, holiday decorations and bake sale. You can buy a lunch and listen to Christmas music from our handbells & children's choirs. Proceeds for this event benefit Mt. Bethel's Older Adult Ministries and the PEP Club. Mt. Bethel's Career Ministry will meet on Tuesday, November 9, at Mt. Bethel's Community Center (4608 Lower Roswell Road near the corner of Woodlawn Drive) - Resume reviews begin at 6:30pm and the Presentation starts at 7:30pm. The evening's topic is Developing and Marketing Your Employment Brand. Developing an Employment Brand is a key component of a successful job search. In today's job market companies are looking for candidates who have clearly communicated who they are, what they are, and the skills and knowledge that they bring to a perspective job. Recruiters and HR professionals are looking for job seekers on a daily basis. It is important to make sure you can be found easily and that your brand is clear. This session will provide an inside look into how Recruiters search for job seekers. Mt. Bethel's Adoptive Parents' Support Group will meet Tuesday, November 9, at 7:00-8:30pm in B118. This is a support group where we can share, whether you are new to the adoption process or are parents of teens or young adults. If you need resources, a mentor, or a shoulder, we'd love to have you join us.
Have you printed your autumn photos? Saturday is a perfect time to crop them! Visit the Scrapbook Ministry's Saturday All Day Crop in B116 on Saturday, November 6, from 9am to 9pm. Parents' Night Out for Special Needs Children & Siblings | Friday, November 12 | 6-9pm | F002 (lower level of Education Building) - Parent's Night Out Respite is for children with special needs and their siblings. Parents can drop off their children with our staff of volunteers for an evening of fun, and use their free time as they wish! This will be our last respite night for 2010. As always, we have all kinds of exciting activities planned. Bring your dinner and picnic with us, and we'll provide pretzels, graham crackers and water for snacks later on. Public Information Meeting for a proposed retirement and assisted living community on Lower Roswell Road near King's Cove subdivision will be held in Mt. Bethel's Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, November 16, at 7:00pm. This is a community event open to all.

Live Nativity - Wednesday, December 15, from 6:00-7:30pm at the big oak tree by the H House. Families are invited to participate as the characters; Mary, Joseph, the wise men, shepherds, angels and the star of Bethlehem to stand in the stable as we present the Christmas story that changed the world. We will have 4 rotations(6; 6:20; 6:40 and 7:00) with at least 3 families in each rotation beginning at 6pm. The Ruth Young Cancer Memorial Fund has recently been established to help women of Mt. Bethel who are undergoing treatment or are recovering from cancer, and who from time to time may need help with quality of life issues, such as babysitting, yard work, transportation, etc. If you would like to donate to this fund, please make checks payable to Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church with Ruth Young Memorial Cancer Fund on the "for" line.

Student Ministry HS Inside Out | November 3 | 7-8:30pm | Upper Room This is our high-school-only worship service. Come hear a great message and have a time of worship and prayer. Life Group Leader Lunch | November 7 | Community Center | 12:15pm I hope you'll come for the chance to fellowship with other leaders, spend time learning more about how to be effective in Life Groups, and celebrate all that God has done so far this year in Student Ministries Life Groups. HS Mission Ops| November 7 An opportunity for high school students to share the love of Christ by serving others. We currently have 45 high school students signed up to serve at 9:30 am in numerous ministries within the church. To sign up for Mission Ops, please pick up a form upstairs in the B Building. HS Spring Break Mission Trips 9th and 10th Grade students are going to the Bahamas and 11th and 12th Grade students are going to Belize. These are gorgeous Fraser firs and all you have to do is fill out a form or order online and then pick up your tree on Saturday, December 4. We will also have a pancake breakfast on December 4 so make it a family event!
Next HS Collision | Redneck KWAR | Nov. 7th | 6-8pm Join us on the fields for our favorite game. Come dressed as Redneck as you can. Note: there is no Collision or Life Groups on Oct. 31st. MS The Next Big Thing | November 14 | 5-9pm | $12 This month's event is the Life Group Corn Maze. Students will sign up with their Life Group to compete in a race through the corn maze at Uncle Shuck's Corn Maze in Dawsonville. College/Young Adult Ministry
Young Adults gather every Tuesday night from 7:00-10:00 in Gaylyn Kelly's home. This is a great time to share a meal, hang out and bring a friend to.
Women's Ministry
The Diane Mickler Circle will meet on Monday, November 8, at 10:00am in the H House. We will be preparing Christmas packages for Adults in Protective Service. Call Linda Lakshas at 770-579-1862 for further details.
The Dorothy Summerour Circle will meet on November 10 at the home of Diana Shelton for our annual Auction. Meet at 9:00am at the church to carpool to Diana's home in Alpharetta. Please bring an item for the auction.
The Lynn Smith Circle will be meeting on Wednesday, November 10, at noon in B118. This circle is a service-oriented group of women mostly age 50 and over. Our project this month is making fleece scarves for the needy. 2011 Women's Retreat - Ladies, ladies, ladies!! It is time to call your mom and your sister and your BFFs because the 2011 Mt.Bethel Women's Retreat will be here before you know it and you do not want to miss it. We will meet at the beautiful Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Opelika Alabama on February 4-6. (Just a short 2 hour drive from the church). We are totally blessed to have an outstanding speaker, Eva Self, and our very own Diane Parrish will be leading us in worship. In addition to the wonderful sessions that are being planned for you there are also a number of activities that are available for your free time to either relax or shop or enjoy the outdoors. Outdoor and indoor pools, health club and spa facilities will be available for our use the entire weekend. What better way to begin the New Year than to renew your physical and mental spirit, savor the fellowship of family and friends, make new friends and joyfully celebrate our love for God! Music Ministry
The Worship Arts Ministry is seeking volunteers to assist with dramatic/technical elements in this year's Carols for Christmas (December 5) and future productions. Prior experience in drama is helpful, but certainly not essential.
We're looking for individuals who could assist in the following areas:
- actors in still life "tableaus" . . . no talking necessary
- puppeteers to work the large scale puppets
- floor managers to call cues to the technical staff and actors
- persons willing to be trained in lighting and sound applications
If you enjoy being part of dramatic productions, please join our team! We've got an exciting show planned and would love to have your help in making it a success.

Youth Winter Basketball - Coaches Meeting, Thursday, November 4, at 6:30pm in the Olympia Room of the CAC. Coaches will receive rosters, practice/game schedules, etc. Players should expect a call from a coach with your first practice day and time, beginning November 5. Practices will begin Monday, November 8 - Saturday, November 13. Youth Winter Basketball - Team Coordinator Meeting, Wednesday, November 10, at 6:30 in the Olympia Room of the CAC. Youth Basketball Officials - We are looking for high school/college students who are interested in officiating for our youth recreation basketball leagues. Please call Adam Sheffield at 770-971-4299. Missions The Atlanta Center for Self-Sufficiency (formerly the Samaritan House) has already gotten requests for winter wear (coats, jackets, gloves, caps, scarves, ear muffs, etc.) In addition, they always have a need for men and women's dress clothes, i.e. suits, dresses, sport coats, slacks, dress shirts, blouses (please use hangers), ties, shoes and belts to wear on job interviews. Casual clothes, men's leather dress shoes and new underwear & socks are also needed. Drop items off at the Missions trailer to the left of the CAC. Aloha to Aging VA Benefits & Senior Scams with Miles Hurley, Elder Care Law: November 9, 1:00-2:30pm. Miles Hurley will be discussing VA Benefits & Senior Scams at a seminar open to the public. Seniors are the most preyed upon group in our population and the schemes become more and more complex yearly! Learn how to identify and avoid this potential minefield.
